Help, mechanic has killed my car :(

Recommended Posts

Had a mechanic replacing the turbo on my IS220D today, which hasn't fixed the issue, but since he left the power steering, electric windows and central locking have all died too. Also, the computer reads E-miles, so basically he's killed it. Any idea how he managed this? To make matters worse, his phone is off so I can't get any feedback from him on what he fecked up..

This makes no sense?

You replaced the turbo without making sure it was faulty in the first place?  At the very least it would have been easy to see what condition it was in when it was removed.

So the car still runs?  Have you checked the fuses?

This sort of thing can happen if the Battery it's not disconnected first.  It's common in an awful lot of turbo cars.  It often isn't logical when apart from a couple of plugs, there is very little interference with electrical components when changing a turbo.

That ^^^^. Parts swapping, an expensive way to fix a car.

That's the difference between a "Fitter" and a "Technician", a fitter just changes out parts and the technician tells you which parts to change!!!

Was the 'mechanic' part of a garage, independent ...?

You have an address?

Sounds like you need to get serious with the person.

Did you check the fusible link? there is a big plastic lump with a clear window on it between the Battery and the fuse box and essentially it

is a bigger fuse that taps off power to other systems. looks like this
