Hi peeps,

I was watching videos on YouTube when this one came on next. At 5.08s he mentions scraping the mat black finish off the grill fins to reveal the shiney 'chrome' underneath. I have noticed the 'chrome' before where there are little stone chips. I just wondered if any of you had done the scraping, what method you used and what the results were like?

Also at 5.30s he talks about the different lower lips available. What do you guys have? I really think the GS needs some kind of lip as it does sit really high compared to newer cars.

Sorry about the rest of the the video, it's not to everyone's taste but no one can deny his enthusiasm for our cars. And that twin turbo...........want!!!!🙏

Cheers,

Bod

As the guy mentions, for the front lip, I think the TTE lip is by far the best if there aren't any skirts and rear aprons added. Nice and subtle and gives the front end a nice stance when lowered.

Both my gen 2's were "Sport" versions, so had the sport grill which is a massive improvement over the slatted grills IMO, so can't really comment on scraping paint off the slats.

I've always thought gen 1 and gen 2 GS's are the best looking 3rd and 4th gen looks boring imo ... makes me miss mine now ...

On a related note, I recently saw this article; http://www.speedhunters.com/2017/07/aristo-v300-built-for-street-action/

A bit too low for my liking but looks well otherwise.

Nice colour. Not a fan of rolled arches, as the GS already has the arch "bulge", it looks a bit odd with the arch flare as well.

A Gen 3 stanced properly with bigger wheels can look well sorted too.

That looks awesome. Never thought I'd say that about a Mk3.

Me neither... actually Gen 3 might be my next Lexus.

Yeah, that looks pretty sweet.

Absolutely loving the Merc so far. The power is phenomenal and totally and utterly addictive. Handling for such a big car and such power is very assuring and certainly lets you explore the power. When just cruising nice an steady, it is a super refined car with more gadgets and creature comforts than you can shake a stick at. Audio system is superb as well, with kickin' bass compared to the Gen 2 GS.

I did have some pics with my front lip & rear valance test fitted, will have to get fresh ones,

GS sport grill does look a lot better than standard grill (imo) but I came across this one years ago & thought it suited with the slats like the front bumpera258ab495ae5eb8f5c1cec8f4a58a214.jpgf9ebf69399a58101ced79ac4511e5dc2.jpg11ea93e713124ead243383a0b6638e20.jpg

Wow, that makes the front really low. They'll look great when they're painted.

I think I'm gonna go with this one. It just really annoys me that they're so cheap to buy but the postage more than doubles it.
