Hi - this is my first project car so i'm a total newbie to mechanics. We've swapped the alternator and are currently in the process of putting the car back together but cannot figure out what is supposed to be connected to this copper/bronze looking pipe that is next to the radiator *****. Whenever the engine is started it starts squirting an oily looking substance out of it

Thanks

That's the autobox oil cooler. There should be two pipes at each end which connect back to the autobox.

Hello thanks! I cannot locate the pipe to connect to it! Where is it located?

Doesn't make sense that you've lost a hose that you must've disconnected.... lol.

For fluid to be coming from one of the transmission cooler connections on the radiator must mean you've connected the other pipe on the radiator. In which case, trace that one back to the gearbox and you should find the other end of the second pipe, follow that pipe back from the gearbox end to find where you've tucked the missing end out of the way.

You'll need top up the fluid of course if an appreciable amount has been pumped out and lost.
