My first RX400H

Recommended Posts

Hi, i just bough a rx400h from 2007 with 79000 miles from Lexus Croydon with full Lexus history and their check before release the car. I`ve add it also 2 more years of warranty beside the normal 1 year so now will be a 3 years. I wanted to know if its worth it to go for the Lexus essential care service ? I want to keep doing service to them if it wont be a big difference between a normal garage and Lexus. With the normal garage at least where i live they all disappointed me when i went with my Toyota to them. Should i expect any problems with this car ? before i had a Toyota mr2 mk3 ( i know its a big change  ) and i had only problems with it , i believe i invested in the car more than X3 compare to how much i paid for it.

Welcome to the forum.

Having Lexus service the vehicle is a kinda good idea because of the hybrid features, as part of their service they will check and annual warranty the hybrid system up to 10 years/140k miles.  But if you'd prefer to service elsewhere (a perfectly valid alternative if you have a reputable indi nearby) then the Lexus hybrid check/annual warranty can be done separately for around £65pa.

Don't worry about the Hybrid side of things too much as they are well engineered. If issues do occur say with the Battery, it can be repaired via specialists at a much reduced cost than Lexus swapping out the entire unit for £2.5k

If you don't mind me asking, what issues did the MR2 give you?

Meanwhile enjoy your RX400h.

Thank you very much i`m so happy , tomorrow i`ll pick it up, i`m so nervous . With my Toyota i had the next problems starting from beginning : Battery, alternator, universal joint, power steering pipe, radiator, all o2 sensors, water pump, rear parking brake, an alloy wheel cracked so i`ve bought 2 months ago a new set of nice and white alloys around 300 pounds, so every time it had a issue i repaired to make sure everything its alright ( all MOT passed without any advisory or problems )  and 2 weeks ago it started to sound like a diesel ( its a petrol ) , but only when i`m on low RPM on 1st, 2nd shift. I don`t know if its the engine, exhaust or something else but now because i bought this one i don`t wanna repair anymore anything on it ( also i would like to sell it but i have no idea what will be the value of it ) . Its a 2001 MR2 MK3 semi-auto with 110.000 miles, when i bought it it had 98.000. This is how much i`m driving in 2 years
