220d head gasket replacement diagrams Step by step

I have a 2007 220d and want to replace the head gasket after a chemical test on the header tank confirmed HD failure

  For the life of me i can not find any thing on google ..no photos vids or pdf showing necessary steps for removing and testing head.

  Has anyone any thing they can help me with before performing this major surgery?

I also have an 07 with same issue - would like to know where gasket fails - if the location is the same for most of these problems.

Interesting - no one wants to add to this conversation?  Now back to resolving this after knee op- so any advice out there?

To be honest, even though this problem is common on the 220 I don’t think there are many owners ( Let alone on this forum) who actually take the job on and catalogue the sequence of events, I have a feeling some move onto a 250, some pay to have it done (oouuch £££‘S) and some leave the Lexus clan altogether!

It's an all alloy engine and thus probably warped the head from overheating.
