So, would anyone consider investing in a classic car?

YES

but it's only a 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer, owned it for many years, probably appreciated in value by 200% to about £20k in the last 12 years ( cost me @£7k )

The advantage to selling a Classic Car is that it is capital gains tax free ( or it was ! ) provided you aren't a Trader or Dealer.

Not so much classic but I am very tempted to let the ISF go and get a 996 4S for the garage and a daily.

Too many....

NSX is right up there but....

E46 M3 CSL when they weren't 50k upwards.  I was going to buy an E46 M3 CS before I bought the ISF but the wife veto'd it due to only having 2 doors and our second car was a Mini Cooper S so needed a baby friendly vehicle.

Decent E46 M3 still on bucket list now but the standard ones are creeping up as well :-(

@FTBBCVoodoo Lee I've had both the E46 M3 & CSL and I really enjoyed them both, very much a cars of their era.

The CSL induction noise through that carbon air box is as intoxicating as it's gearbox is irritating, when you going for it on a fun drive it's acceptable any other time it's a pain.

Why they didn't do it in manual guise is beyond me, I'm guessing it's because it's hardly any quicker than a standard M3 anyway so they didn't see the point.

The standard tyres in the wet are nothing more than 😳

CSL big bucks now, I'd go for a standard car and use it as it was intended 😂

On holiday in Lisbon at the moment it will come as no surprise to some on here I was outside this cafe drinking coffee and eating cake when this pulled up outside an incredibly rare Lancia lovely car.

There's two I wish I still had,

first at 17 in 1989 was my uncles MK 1 1300E, purple with a black vynil roof, was my Great Aunts prior to him, back seat had never been sat on, grey velour seats had always had covers on from new, at 17 and knowing nothing it failed the MOT and mot'er said it was to expensive to repair (both cills) he bought it off me for £200.......second was my TR4a.......old boy I knew had it from new, bought it off him when kids were young and with young kids the money goes faster than u can earn it, still have the 1969 mini that I swapped it for and the £2000 is long gone, in 16 years the mini has done about 30 miles 😂......only has 43k from new 😳

Still have an urge for a P5 3500 coupe and a series 1 turbo......but the house is more important (so says the wife) 😢

Mk1 escort must have been the slickest shifting manual gearbox ever produced 👍

Surely for some people (like yourself) who already have multiple properties, pension, ISAs and a Swiss bank account, a dabble with a classic car is just another egg for your rather plump investment nest.

You told me you already had a Honda..............was it an NSX or Jazz? I get those two confused

Same as antiques, if you buy something you love, then enjoy using it, any profit is a bonus.

I find shows like Quentin and Jodies classic car series, with it's focus on prices, a bit tiresome, I'd prefer more emphasis on the actual cars qualities.

This is what worries me about you, mixing up a Jazz with an NSX, one is an understated high performance sports car, chassis development by one certain Brazilian F1 legend and the other one is a Honda....................come on, get with the programme:biggrin:

I didn't realise Phillipe Massa developed the Jazz!!!

I drove loads of 70s Fords, escorts, cortinas, capris and granadas..... the granadas were all autos, which weren't the best, but all the others were manual boxes, and every single one was a joy to use.

My flatmate bought a brand new 1300E in purple, at the same time as I went for a 1300L ...his was a much nicer interior, very posh for it's time.

@Womble72 I couldn't agree more a fantastic line up of cars over the years, as we used to say 'they rusted just as fast as they went'

@mikeyv A man after my own heart Fords of that era, compared to most of the competition were just brilliant, had four 3 litre Capris as well as 2.8 Inection's in Capri and Granada manual and autos, my Favourite was a LHD 2.6 V6 Kuglefisher mechanical injection Capri, if I had that now I'd be a very rich man, almost as wealthy as the often pretending to be poor @Flytvr 😂

@rayaans Used to watch these race in Germany against RS3100 Capris, a fantastic battle was usually had which frequently I'm sorry to say was won by BMW, being a Capri fan it was difficult to witness at times but they were the better car on track 🙁
