My daily drive is getting a bit long in the tooth. A Volvo XC90 with 195K

So, time to replace.

Requirements

Comfy

Very reliable

Low tax (as possible). The Volvo is currently £500+ pa

Doesn't need  to be fast - but torque appreciated

Doesn't need to handle well. Want a wafter

Budget, around about the £8K mark

Mpg not too important. I drive 28 miles per day

Could be a 2 seater,4 or 5

Auto

My list so far is pretty diverse.

Skoda Superb

CT200H

Volvo XC60

Saab 9-5

So, any (sensible) suggestions from you chaps?

Thank god Rat's battery is at 20%!!

Keep encouraging my other half to consider the NX or RX to upgrade the 2008 b class Mercedes, but she wants a mini countryman 😔. I know you love your volvo's, surely you would want to keep at least one on your drive?

Fully loaded Saab 9-5 Aero.  Had 4 Saabs before I went to Lexus, wouldn't have moved if Saabs still going.  Not as refined as the Lexus, but couldn't fault the Saabs I had.

@Flytvr I can take that as a compliment because you must have studied the ad very seriously to notice that as well 😂

One half of the household.....respectable, non estate agent, reliable motor driving professional. The other an estate agent encouraging, unreliable motoring, noddy car 🙈.

I'll try the reliability angle first

Then the guilt trip over child safety...

If all else fails I'll offer to pay for it but only if it's a Lexus. 😉

3 times what I want to pay for a snotter :(

NX is........ OK, but I've been more impressed by the IS-300H

What about CT 200H F Sport? Ive had this and IS300H as hire cars and found the CT more engaging.

l like the idea (and look of the CT200h), but as soon as you stick one on the motorway, there's nowhere near enough grunt.

I had the mini one as a company car for 2/3 months in 2009, horrible little things. The other half is only really interested in what it looks like and she doesn't listen to me, I'm worried 😓

I think you should push the budget and get a late model saab 95. A 2.8 4x4 would be lovely but the 2.0t would be cheaper and easy to remap 😉
