Apple Using Lexus Autonomous Cars

Seems apple are developing autonomous cars after all using a Lexus as a platform..............................discuss!

With the safety record of autonomous cars (e.g. this lovely Volvo), I hope they are not using IS-Fs!

It'll be something boring and electricy no doubt.  Good to see someone as established as apple trusting the lexus brand though.  Whether I like it or not, everyones pushing this now so its undoubtedly the future.

 

I'm a firm believer that we as a species can develop any way we want, all it takes is a few massive businesses to decide this is what we will be doing in 10-20 years time, and it will happen.

 

I do seriously wonder what that means for cars like ours though.  Will there come a day in 30+ years where we cannot drive our cars legally anymore??

From a personal perspective I'll be 90 so blatting around in an isF weaving in and out all those little 'leccy' plastic cars may well not be socially acceptable. 

So I'll resign my self to sitting in my 'pod' while you younguns hoon about and I'll just sit there mouthing obscenities at you 😂

This will never happen, if apple are involved the Battery won't last 5 minutes, they will bring a new model out every month and you'll have to keep plugging it into a pc to update iTunes. 😉

One of the reasons for getting the ISF was that in a little while we'll all be forced (taxed) to drive milk floats. May the V8 live long!

So very true plus add in some apple quirks and you will probably the vehicle has no reverse and shuts down completely a second after the 10% low charge warning. As for software updates apple never seem to fix the bugs for the previous OS x version but make you feel a lot better with upgraded graphics and "improved" itunes.

I wonder what the basic price will be given apple prices!!

Will impress your buddies at the golf club, as it's developed by apple it will have iTunes so you can listen to some One Direction on the first tee. I assume you play, we all must, according to Clarkson.

Bring it on. The standard of driving on the roads these days is shocking. I regularly see people vaping, texting or smoking whilst driving. There are far too many distractions taking drivers' attention away from driving!

If everything was automated, the roads would be so much safer.

It will happen, no doubt. Enjoy the freedom and the V8 while it lasts.

Sadly not, that's phase 2, many alloy wheels, pets, hedgehogs and McDonald's bags will be lost but we can't let them stand in the way of progress.

I'm sure they scan the road for obstacles and stuff, maybe they will recognise a pothole and automatically upload the location to the council so they can ignore it

I read that apple were talking to Mclaren about buying them recently, I guess that didn't work out.
