Looks normal to me

Bound to get ripples if you sit in it! But generally, looks the same as mine does!

Is this a joke? Doesn't everyone know pink seats ripple.

I'd agree, ripples look normal, but you could use a hair dryer on them to try and shrink the leather slightly and tighten them up.

As others have suggested, possibly best not to sit in the seats if they keep getting ripples in them. I can imagine what might be going through a service advisor's mind as I explain how my leather seats keep getting ripples in them every time someone sits on them

No one has sat on the seat after it was re-covered by Lexus when the original cover was slightly oversized.

Lexus replaced the bench seat frame, the foam & the leather cover so it will be sorted by an expert.

Do not accept the Red is more prone to wrinkles was just asking if it was an easy fix ?

I am actually surprised as well... merely leaning on the seat will leave some ripples in the leather. It is natural material, it is meant to stretch and be flexible to make your bottom side comfortable. If you that concerned, you can probably wipe with hand to the sides and ripples will be gone, it is not defect of any kind and I am confused of what you want Lexus to do about it.

You always have an option to go for BMW or MB stone hard slippery leather, which regardless how you press it won't change and therefore feels very uncomfortable. Lexus uses soft good quality leather and that is actually advantage.

Without wanting to be blunt, ripples will be the least of your worries with the exceptionally soft leather in these cars. As Linas says, opt for nasty German leather if you want durability. I've learned to let go of the visible flaws and just enjoy the comfort.

I cannot say that Lexus seat are not durable. Light coloured ones obviously due to their soft nature accumulates more dirt in creases and looks more worn that they actually are (that is probably true about any light colour surface), but good leather cleaner will restore them to pristine condition. Black leather in Lexus holds surprisingly well... I would even argue better than ones on BMW or MBs, which actually prone to cracking and peeling.

Lexus leather feels exceptionally natural to touch and I really appreciate that - it is more like soft leather sofa at home vs. nasty cheap PU (artificial) leather sofas in cafes etc. Yes PU ones easier to clean and not get creased ... something which is valuable for fast food chain... but at home you have soft real leather sofa which is conformable - yes you probably need to take more care of it, but I am sure everyone would know which one they go for in their sitting room.

Wait.....What?!

What do you mean by the original cover being oversized?

The Cushion had a 2" diameter. bubble on the rear cushion that was magically erased before sale using "hot air" with the promise that the issue would be fully resolved if it returned.

I said there fix was truly remarkable given the "excess" material but was content to drive home in the rain.Overnight you could see the fault returning.

The Factory,Portabery, the Dealer Team had failed.

Will see what happens now

Ok...so now we are talking. it had some factory defect - the problem is that the picture you attached is not representative of the problem. Slight creases in the middle are completely normal.

Can you send the actual picture of the bubble in the cushion?

The bubble has gone when the rear bench seat was replaced completely but now the replacement has the afore mentioned ripples that Lexus said would disappear within a couple of days as the foam settles in.

Have been to Lexus this morning & a Specialist is going to resolve it as my Dealer doubted the foam settling in would do the trick.

Lexus Europe do not stock complete seats & this issue is therefore not unique when a new cover is fitted.

Ok... so from you description it seems they fixed the issue as ripples are completely normal and not a defect. I really don't see what can be done, so that soft leather would not ripple... even if they can somehow do it, it will ripple again as soon as somebody sits in it.

No ripples in my previous 2013 model although my 2017 does feel softer but no issues on my front seats so far.

MB leather is actually plastic & horrid. Just been on a long journey in an E Class and had bad cramp in my thigh. Never get this in the GS.

Isn't that what I have said?

You dont seem to know that on many Mercs the leather is actually faux. Two of my colleagues both drive an E Class and they have faux.

Does it change the fact it is nasty, hard, slippery and uncomfortable? Are we disagreeing on something?

Just informing you that many Mercs have vinyl seats masquerading as leather.:w00t:

MBtex and Artico are Mercedes artificial leather (vinyl) coverings. MBtex (no longer offered) was virtually bomb-proof, hard as armour and fitted to all taxis. The modern equivalent is Artico, much more realistic looking and feeling but no where near as robust or long lasting as MBtex, or genuine leather come to that. Many instances of split bolsters within the first couple of years of use.

All modern automotive leathers are PU coated (sealed) and I'd be very surprised if Lexus leather is any different. Lexus models sold in the USA come with vinyl as standard, leather being a cost option.

Lexus leather is infinitely more luxurious compared with the standard option MB leather, possibly on an par with their Passion leather, I just hope it is equally robust...

That is indeed correct, the difference is how much leather is left and how much sealant is put on top i.e. you can take hide, coat it with relatively thin layer of sealant and use it ( that is what I believe Lexus is doing), or you can split hide in 8 layers, use thick layer of sealant and back it with some kind of fabric/foam/rubber etc, this makes it substantially cheaper and that is what I believe peeling and cracking MB/BMW "leathers" are like. By percentage of thickness Lexus ones are maybe 80% leather, 20% sealant, whereas cheap ones in MB/BMW are like 40% backing, 20% leather and 40% sealant. In PU leather is used merely to give texture and material is mostly made of out polyurethane - hence eve calling it leather can be considering misleading.

Obviously you can order BMW/MB with premium leather, but is we look to the number of used cars it is very rare option.
