Guys, after much searching I'm struggling to find a definitive answer regarding whether headers can be sought with Cats or are they all without.  I'm looking to change exhaust system also and am leaning towards H+S as they are UK based and have chatted to them regarding my requirements.

PPE and Sikky both state they remove the cat but also state cats can be fitted.  No mention of how to source the headers though.  Will I have to buy and get the TIG welder out to modify myself?

I know H+S systems are used by a few on here, I've looked at Borla and JoeZ also, have missed any good ones?

Appreciate that the search function is there but it's sometimes easy to get confused by some of the threads

I was under the impression that you can run cateless headers but you need to install cats after the headers (exhaust side piping) to make it legal?

That's what I'm planning to do eventually with my Joe-Z (Cateless exhaust).

So rather than buy headers with Cats, fit cats in an after market system.  Doesn't a cat work more effectively near the heads as temperature is required??

Well my car had/has Catless PPE headers with Cateless Joe-Z exhaust.

When I was asking about getting my car road legal in the UK I was told I would only need to install cats on the Joe-Z (right after the headers).

Currently I still have the PPE headers installed with the OEM exhaust so it should pass MOT in this setup.

Further down the line I will be adding the HFCs to the Joe-Z so I can drive with the exhaust and pass emission test.

Eventually it should look something similar to this (post #1583 has the pic of the HFC installed) : http://www.clublexus.com/forums/cl-vendor-products-for-is-f/809681-rr-racing-isf-ecu-tune-finally-106.html

Having cats in the headers defeats the point of fitting aftermarket units. Deleting the cats is where all the power gain comes from. If you need a cat for emissions i would suggest a sports cat as a part of the exhaust system after the headers. I would also consider a valved exhaust if you use the car early and you like your neighbours!
