Solar Flare RC300h at my local dealer. Not to my taste, or anyone I spoke with there...

Posted

Lexus Hatfield had one last week and by this Monday gone it's been sold, looks like Lexus UK gave one to each dealership to display and sell. Not for me though.

Colours like that only suit sports cars, even then not convinced.

Yes I could just about see an RC in that colour. But not an NX. There was one in the Belfast showroom a couple of months back and I reckon even the salesman realised he had his work cut out...

Not for me, even though orange is my favourite colour. I think the Focus RS orange is nicer.

At any rate, I think the novelty would soon wear off. I would also be concerned about resale. On the other it could be a steal as a second hand buy.

Are Lexus Edinburgh asking full price?

It suits certain cars, but I don't think it works on the NX. It would certainly stand out mind.

An acquired taste I should think. Brave choice if buying with own money because the pool of potential buyers will be smaller come resale time

I saw one!

This weekend, travelling north on the A34... just north of Winchester.

Certainly bright, but the thing I do not like is that somehow the colour hides the sharp creases of the NX... they just melt into nothing and rob the car of its character.

Ah ah... no flashing lights so i guess neither!

no Tango stickers either!

Yes I could just about see an RC in that colour. But not an NX.

I am reliably informed, however, that a solar flare NX was sold by Lexus Belfast last month. I'm already looking out for it! :)

The orange Focus STs were a bit in your face to start with but they've grown on me now

I think the orange of the Focus is nicer: deeper shade and metallic (or pearlescent)

Agreed, Solar Flare is also metallic though and has a yellow/gold flake effect when you see it in the flesh under a strong light source. Quite subtle though and when the flake pop isn't visible (ie: like in the picture above) it looks kinda bland. Even on an RC-F I wouldn't have it.

Lexus Edinburgh still have this for sale btw, but it's now inside the showroom!

They have one in Lexus Bristol shining  brightly, First impression reach for the sun glasses but after about 30 mins it began to grow on me as the sparkle showed through from different angles, Funny though that once inside with everything being black it did seem a dark car. They asked if I would consider buying it, yes but only for a no cash swop!

But then I did once have a Escort mk11 1600 sport in my younger days (and yes orange did suit that car with the bold decals), maybe it needed some more black contrast on the outside

Nor have I, I think they will be very rare indeed. I don't think you will miss it if one does pass you by. It'll be right in your face :)
