From googling around it seems it's not that uncommon for these to pop off. Looks like they're just glued on. Called Lexus to see if they supply replacements, and the response was "of course sir, that'll be £250". In other words, you have to buy a complete handle! Not going down that route for something that's mostly cosmetic... So will have to be on the lookout for one via the usual places.

I did see a set on eBay for around £136, which is still way more than I want to pay though that is for all 4 of them. They're also in that shiny chrome finish which I don't really think will look right... :whistling:

If anyone knows of other sources or has other suggestions then let me know.

Hi Paul,

I had one of these break off on my LS430 and my dealer found a replacement no problem.

I looked through my records (I keep all my invoices on work done, thinking I will add it all up one day, but scared to...) and can't find it itemised on any of them. I think it wasn't expensive and so he replaced it for me out of goodwill. Definitely didn't need a complete handle.

I'm popping in to see my dealer soon for some other stuff so I'll ask and see if I can get some more info. It's NZ though, but I could get one and send it to you?

PS it has two little lugs and it clicks/pops on, one of my lugs was broken

Thanks Nigel. Local Lexus dealer just looks at screen and says "computer says new door handle", but  if you can find one then that would be awesome!

Yes looking again at my pic I can see holes where I guess pins are inserted. So not just adhesive.

Paul,

my dealer is looking into it today my time, it's the offside rear door isn't it?

Paul,

the dealer has got back to me now

its $18 for a replacement, about £10.

i can get it and send it to you?

not sure how we are allowed to communicate directly. I could send you my mobile number and you can send me your email address and we can then exchange details, then I can send it to you and you could transfer the cost to my UK bank a/c once you receive it?

let me know

Nige

Just wanted to update this thread and report that Nigel delivered . Really appreciate that he took the time on this and helped a fellow Lexus junkie from the other side of the world. This literally cost about one twentieth what Lexus UK quoted (though admittedly, just a smaller part rather than replacing the whole handle, which is all they would offer).

I'm posting a pic of the part here and do laugh all you like about my touch-up paint skills (or lack of them). It's just a quick dry fit for now. If it doesn't sand down well then I'll spray it. But anyway, thank you @NiceNige!

[edit]

this is the whole piece that Nigel provided btw. I just needed the top veneer which pops off (all too easily it seems...)
