I have just bought a second hand is250 and went out in it and it started to rain but the sensor did not turn the wiper on,I know the car has 3 month warranty but I just wanted to know if it was someone easy like a fuse that I could do without going back to garage,I have put the wiper stalk on auto and also poured water over sensor but still nothing.Any ideas

How have you put it into auto?

Stalk pushed up to top and then one notch down, then regulate the speed by turning the knob on the end of the stalk?

Do you have a users manual?

Do you think the windscreen is original or might it have been replaced at some point?

I've heard of occasions where the fitter has not refitted the sensor patch correctly. There is a smallish yoke piece that pulls down to the bottom of the windscreen, in a fashion that is parallel to the windscreen. This allows the back cover piece to be gently pulled back to reveal the sensor itself. It should be tight up against the glass. Don't suppose its hanging loose by any chance?

Trust you're enjoying the 250 having had the 220d.
