Evening everyone.

Just found out that the majority of the classic car insurance brokers if not all of them don't offer classic car insurance for Lexus if not 30 year old.

Mentioned to them that the oldest Lexus is 28 as the brand.

Being told that is the underwriters decision.

Change came recently.

Bit gutted atm with my ls400 that served me for last year as a weekend/fun trip car insured on classic policy.

Does anyone came across similar issue?

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. We have classic car schemes that can cater for Lexus vehicles, especially the older models.

Regards,

Dan.

Hi Dan ,

Thank you kindly for your offer but I was on the phone with your company just days ago and no one could help.

Simple answer was that the Lexus should be 30!?

I would be glad if you could poke underwriters to acknowledge that the oldest Lexus on the market is 28 year.

We both know that LS 400 was a milestone for Toyota and every single one on the road is worth preservation.

I had a chat with them on Friday and they refused.

When you have quoted yours?

I have to admit I do not have a garage and my postcode is not the best.

That could possibly have an impact on the quotation.

Thank you for your reply

I got a reply from one broker company willing to insure the car.

Being told that at the moment is only one underwriter doing Lexus brand in UK.

Thank you.

Very strange as I renewed my classic insurance with Footman James only a month ago, I hope things haven't changed regarding the age of the car because my NCD has now expired for normal insurance.

Could be interesting for others in the forum to just put the name of the company and type of cover you got plus an idea of price.

Wasn't sure if such things are allowed.

ERS, £360, fully comp, 5kmiles, for my rather crapy postcode.

No garage required.

Brentacre is quite good but not sure whether they would have the same "30 year old" policy
