Agree with that a fantastic car, the Gsi and Senator with the 24V were truly great cars for their day once saw a genuine calibrated 168 mph in the Senator, glad I checked the tyre pressures before hand 😇

First car was a 73 vw Beetle 1300 and i've still got it. Only doing few hundred miles a year though.

1995 Citroen ZX 1.9D as a run around while restoring the bug at the time.

1998 Peugeot 306 GTI6 in Blaze Yellow. (Handled awesome and sounded great just abit fragile)

2004 Honda civic EP3 brand new and sold it after four months. Didnt like it.

1997 Toyota MR2 Rev 4 T Bar Silver / Black edition.

1993 MKIV Supra Aerotop non turbo in black.

1993 MKIV Supra TT 6 Speed in Red. (Wish i'd never sold it now as they're fetching mad prices now)

2005 Vauxhall Monaro CV8

2007 Civic Type R FN2 ( Kept it a couple of years - Much better to drive than the EP3)

2005 Lexus GS430 SE-L Premier. (8 year old when i bought it with 31k on the clock)

2010 Lexus Rx450h SE-L

2012 Lexus Rx450h F Sport

2013 Lexus ISF (Hides in the garage alot just now)

And for the donkey work i'm running a 2003 Toyota Yaris T sport. ( Used to be the wifes then her dads and now mine and its turned into abit of a project)

For what it's worth heres my list

mk1 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 - Mint Green - Not technically my car but drove it enough to be considered for this. In reality total crap with 45bhp and 61lb.ft (those numbers are etched in my brain, I didn't even have to look it up). So many great memories at 17 onwards driving it and because it gave me the first taste of freedom like that it was brilliant.

Opel Manta GTE Coupe 2.0 - Silver - Flintstone inspired floor was a nice "bonus"

mk5 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 - Faded red but apart from paint and the seats it was brilliant

Opel Manta GTE Coupe 2.0 - Black - A garage find that a mate of mine and I got back on the road and worked on for a couple of years.

Honda Accord Type R 2.2 - Silver - Was desperate for something faster than the Fiesta but it was the wrong car for me at the time.

Renault Clio 172 2.0 - Blue - Bought a bad one as I needed transport because someone offered me more than I was expecting for the Honda. Was great at 100% but tiring and uncomfortable at anything less. 

Skoda Fabia VRS 1.9 - Red - Not particularly exciting but did everything else well.

BMW 130 M Sport 3.0 - Black - First 2 years were brilliant then it spent more time at the dealer than my house.

Lexus ISF 5.0 - Silver

Ford Focus 1.6 - Was bought as a shopping/tip run car.  Did that fine but was uncomfortable. 

mk7.5 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.0 - It's so much better than it should be.

Nope 2 different ones, had a silver one first but then had to sell it due to having emergency spinal surgery . So couldnt get in it . But hen got a black one a few years later.

How did you get on with your Monaros?

My CV8 was probably the worst car i've ever owned in terms of reliability and build quality. Used to chew through brakes every 5k (smaller much cheaper brakes than the VXR)

The power steering pump failed at 3 years old whining all the time (Vauxhall werent interested under warranty) then the power steering cooler hose blew off on my drive making a right old mess off the mono block. Had to replace one of the HP power steering hoses due to rot. Belts squealed everytime it rained - failed idler pulley. Most days from cold it wouldn't go into reverse and had to go through 1st to 4th before you'd get reverse. Diff oil was silver at three years old. Clutch would slip when warm trying to pull away quick - something to do with the servo oil overheating. Oh and water liked to leak in the doors.

Loved driving it though and that big old pushrod V8 was great to live with day to day. Driving in the snow was interesting lol.

Seriously considered a VXR8 but saw more issues with water leaks , gearboxes failing, wishbones failing after 5k and indicator faults so went back to Japanese cars.

It's a shame to hear all the problems you had with the car, the guy who looks after my vans is actively looking for VXR8, and viewed loads of cars in the last 7 months and still not found anything.

One reason why I've jumped from German to Jap.

Both of them had leaking radiator car (common ) black one split the radiator , but around £250 for a new one so not too bad.

THey both had ap brake upgrade so zero brake issues , black one had a ls7 clutch. Other than that nothing .

But i agree the build quality wasnt the best , but at £30k new what do u expect.

Aye i remember the LS7 clutch kit was a popular upgrade through Monkfish.

Your right about the price though, easy to forget that some of the older Jap cars like the MKIV supra cost 50k plus in 1993. Think i paid about 13k for the CV8 and it still had vauxhall warranty left so it was a great entry into the V8 world.

I've had the radiator replaced on the ISF.  It was considerably more than £250 too.

I was considering a Monaro/VXR8 when I looked at the ISF.  Couldn't find a decent one to try at the time.

Why the rad replacement Colin, was it something to do with the fans or supporting bracketry or simply wear and tear.

When it was in for one of the previous recalls (fuel pump IIRC) the garage did an inspection on the car while it was in many bits and noticed that there was a crack on the radiator so to be safe they decided to replace it. 

Unfortunately parts supply was (and probably still is) slightly problematic.  They tried Lexus UK but there wasn't one, there's apparently a big parts depot in mainland Europe (Germany I think they said) and they didn't have one.  Had to go ask in Japan and they didn't have one either so Lexus Japan had to make me one :biggrin:  I'm assuming it was assemble rather than make from scratch and a batch rather than just 1 but didn't get all the details.  2 weeks with a brand new IS300H Premium later and I got the car back.

From memory the dealer said the bill would have been significant (well into 4 figures including labour).

At least they got you sorted, I suppose this is something that is going to be a problem as time goes on not a lot we can do about it really except drive every where like Miss Daisy 🤣

What was that 300 like only evert had 200t's a couple of times, quite liked it but not a great fan of Turbo fours.

It was pretty good.  Nice place to be in though I'm not sure how much of that is because it was a Premium.  Quick enough for most people.  Interior is obviously a generation newer than the ISF and it shows but there are still issues (Sat nav is still crap for example).  Touch screen replaced with mouse pointer thing which I preferred but I seem to be in the minority according to the dealer.  It's a bit disappointing the electric motor doesn't have a longer range.  It really struggled getting over a mile in an uphill 30 limit and I don't like the thought of fake engine/exhaust/gear change noise.

I suppose interior generationaly better in looks is to be expected performance not my cup of tea, sat nav know what you mean quite like the one in the 'F' 😏

Suppose we all will have to get used to the milk float artificial noise it's progress don't you know lol.
