My 2007 GS450H broke down on Saturday 3. Dec.  All the electronics seem to be working the heater especially was working as I had kids in the car but no traction with the message ”Check ECB” I have 96k on the clock.

I called Lexus Croydon who told me to bring it to the Jemca Toyota garage just around the corner which I usually used for all servicing.

After being rescued I drop it there about 7.30pm and next morning I when up there and drop off the keys.

Now let me say I am Lexus veteran, having owned an IS200 in 1999 GS300 in 2003 and GS 450H 2010.  Always serviced my cars at Lexus Croydon and always dropped the car off at Jemca Toyota just around the corner.

To my surprise on Monday Lexus Service called me and said “We cannot start the car so can you arrange transportation to the Lexus Workshop in Mill Lane” about 1 mile from where they told me to drop it in the first place”

The Battery is now completely dead as I had to use it while the car was stuck to warm the children. I could not open the door without the using the actual keys.

I call the RAC and now chargeable 2nd rescue they had to charge the Battery to get the boot open and they drop me down to the Mill Lane.

I have not got a prognosis of what the problem is at the moment as Lexus are telling me that 1 year ago they told me that the Hybrid Battery was knackered and they want £2600 for a replacement.  They also want £235 for the main Battery as it is not holding charge.

So I need to spend £2800 before they can tell me what is wrong with the “Check ECB”.

The “Check Hybrid System” Battery has been coming up for 1 year but the hybrid drive has been working “perfectly”.

I am a bit sceptical or Lexus Croydon as

1.     1.   They did not tow my car the 1 mile to their workshop

2.      2.  They told me that the Visual safety report was from a year ago.

3.       3. They did not tell me about the rebate for taking in the old Hybrid Battery.

Is there any where I can tow this car that is not going to sell me an Hybrid Battery and just tell me what the problem is?

Hi

The Main dealers will always relace parts rather than repair.

I would give Richard at Hybrid Battery Solutions a ring to see if he can shed any light on this - if it is the Battery pack it will be repairable

Hope you get is sorted soon

If you totally discharged the HV Battery the engine will not start anymore till HV Battery will be recharged, and this is quite a trouble, as to do this it needs a special charger.

Besides, total discharge of HV Battery may damage it. If also 12 V Battery is off too this it can be charged easier or changed, but you can only restore auxiliary circuits, no hope to start engine anyway. NEVER let HV Battery totally discharging.
