Yep, the lease on the IS300h Advance is up, so it will be collected early next week.  That was my last company car, so it's out with my own cheque book this time!

We don't really need two cars, Mrs Baxlin has a Skoda Estate, so something a little more frivolous is on the cards!

Opposite end of the spectrum, almost, then.  A bright red diesel, manual, Volvo C70 folding hardtop convertible........... Mid-life crisis about 30 years too late!!

I'll still hover, if I'm allowed, so hopefully it's not goodbye.

Thanks for all the help I've received, including which dashcam (to match the rain sensor fitting), sorting out DAB reception (unplugging said dashcam) etc etc.

There is no need to go sir. Why not carry on owning Lexus, as they are such fantastic cars. What about one of those old SC sports coupe or even a CT. or IS?

Best of luck..I had my mid life thingy  (again) , left and got a BMW pocket rocket...two years later I'm back. Before returning I took a long hard look at Volvo but didn't pull the trigger although it was a close call.

Reading other threads on here, about 'driving like Miss Daisy' for economy, I realised last week that I had been doing this quite a bit in the IS.  But as I had over half a tank of petrol that I didn't want to see go with the car, for the last few days I have to admit I have been switching to Sport mode, and letting the car rip 'a little (!)'.

Maybe it's not totally a wolf in sheep's clothing, but I've certainly seen a different side to the car.......

I tend to switch to Sport mode when driving out of town, reserving Normal only for urban/town trips. Love the way the car springs to life, much sharper throttle response.

Not noticed much difference in mpg either.

Agreed.  I once compared consumption in NORMAL v. SPORT (not SPORT+) modes in my IS300h by noting how far the approx. 56 litres

available between filling up and the appearance of the fuel reserve warning took me in each of the two modes at much the same speeds

over much the same routes and with no deviations from my habitual driving style.  I managed 948km in NORMAL mode and 917km in

SPORT, a difference of only 3%.  Some time later, I made a similar comparison, albeit on a half-tank-per-mode basis, in a CT F-Sport

loaner, and while I don't remember the km totals, the "saving" in NORMAL v. SPORT was also around 3-4%.  I haven't made the

comparisons in the RC300h, and probably won't unless the purely academic urge to do so again creeps up on me.

Good luck with your new choice ,my son is a big Volvo fan ,I look after his and I did consider one when I wanted a hard top convertible .Sanity prevailed ,and I purchased a Lexus IS 250 Convertible ;no regrets ,great car ,just need more sunshine!
