Just read the autocar review of the LC. I think I've just identified what I will eventually replace my IS-F with.....

The proper 'f' variant will be 100k plus though? That's mega wedge and has it competing with some serious metal. I'd take a older 12c over a new one of these at that price point. It's also up there with a nearly new 991 GTS, AMG GTS etc

Yh rough estimates are £80k for the LC500h and LC500. £100k for the LC-F which apparently is coming with a new turbo engine but it'll be a while yet. 

More of a GT car than an all out Sports car but the quality of the interior looks sublime IMO, from pics anyway. 

I think itll definitely justify its asking price considering Audi A4's are pushing £50k now with 2.0l 4 pot engine and less tech than the LC

Don't deny the quality and uniqueness of the car for a second reliability. The question is what market the car is aimed and what is it competing with? Looks like an M6, AMG GTS competitor. If that's the case it may do well. The question is, if you have 100k to spend what would you buy? Also, Lexus depreciation in the U.K. Is mental so will people really sink that in to it new. Look at the rc-f prices now!

Seems to be aimed at cars like the BMW 6 series and S Class coupe. I guess you could put the maserati gran turismo in there too. 

Depreciation of the M4 isn't that much off an RCF tbh. They're fetching around the same price

Not S-coupe... but AMG GT. S-coupe is easily ~£150k, while AMG GT is ~£95k... and size wise S-Coupe is full size GT and compete likes Bentley Continental and RR Ghost.

Nah I stand by S coupe - it starts at £98k so would put it at roughly the same price range. AMG GT is too small and only has 2 seats.

Initial reviews are looking very promising - Whatcar has awarded it 4 stars out of 5.

Negatives are pretty picky - "firm low speed ride, too many buttons on steering wheel and limited rear space"

Positives are very interesting - "beautifully balanced chassis, characterful V8 and interactive handling". In the review they also mentioned that the 10 speed auto gearbox is actually pretty quick to shift and very smooth. Turns out the new infotainment system is quick too.

 You have a point, I would just add... S-Coupe is ultimate Grand Tourer with all possible technology on the list and therefore at least theoretically it is well beyond reach of LC. So basically, standard S-Coupe will target likes LC or BMW 6, whilst fully specified can go as far as Aston Martin, Bentley and RR.

Have you seen options on LC... same story as with other recent line up... If you select LC Sport+ then certain options becomes unavailable.. namely glass roof... And they won't even give ML as standard, though I hope 12 speaker system is going to be much better then in other cars.

Sport will probably be the one most people go for. Sport+ only has alcantara seats I believe and supposed to be the very sporty one in the lineup whereas the Sport is middle ground.

The 12 speaker is made by Pioneer. The 8 speaker setup in the IS sounds very similiar to the ML in that there's no point going for it - hence not many cars with ML available used. Same story with the new RX.

You right Sport seems the most sensible pack, but I see no reason why you cannot have carbon accents and retractable carbon spoiler in Sport. As for Alcantara I consider it inferior materiel anyway... it is basically fake leather. 

Just preemptive comment.. I am not bashing Lexus again, I just don't understand why would they limit the amount people can spend on their flagship model. It does makes sense that you cannot have carbon and glass roof on one car, because obviously it is one or another, but I see no way how that can be related with carbon scuff plates or spoiler.

interesting, I prefer Alcantara to Leather, less slippy, easier to look after, comfortable and durable. I do agree that some of the other combination restrictions don't seem to make a lot of sense. I wonder what the run out special in 7 years time will be configured like??

Just took a look at the specs and TBH the basic one (if you can call it that) seems pretty well loaded anyway so Id probably be going for that one if I wanted a 4 seater GT thats awesome to look at

I didn't say it is not loaded, what I am saying - from sales point of view it seems illogical to restrict somebody buying £5 worth carbon detail and charge £1000 for it.

@JonP as for alcantara... yes it is great artificial leather, but same can be said about plastic over the wood... Still wood is always much more luxurious and feels more premium. \i don't mind alcantara as headlining or console/door cards cover, but would still much more prefer real leather on the seats.

I think the carbon roof is real...... Lets not forget the car is being made at the same factory as the LFA - hence lots of carbon expertise there.

Yes carbon is definitely real, did I say anywhere that it is not. When saying "£5 detail", I was referring to "carbon scuff plates". One way or another companies are already perfecting carbon technology and it is no longer so labour intensive as it once was, so the cost for carbons details on such "mass produced" car (comparing to something like Koenigsegg Lexus will make 100 times more of these).

To summarise I woudl expect Lexus to allow to buy "carbon pack" for say £3k which would include all the details and the spoiler, and the option to keeps glass roof.
