My friend was delivering my car back home from it's MOT (He runs a garage) when someone pulled out in front of him and he took avoiding action resulting in a hefty whack against a curb on the drivers side.  Result is both wheels in need of repair and 4 new tyres needed after only going on back in August.

Did consider only replacing offside tyres but my tyre friend noted that I would then be changing 2 tyres each side every 6 months or so and also the good tyres were at 50% (after the Nurburgring trip) so would clear water at a vastly different rate to the new ones.

So new Conti Sport 6's in the 275/30/19 and 245/35/19 combo have been put on (again!) today along with realignment.

My buddy is paying for tyres and wheel repair refurb and the realignment.

Now do I stick to original colour or go for something a bit different seeing as I am getting a refurb effectively for free?

wow that is certainly a bash, i am surprised it didn't crack the wheel, could have been a lot worse if your friend had not got out the way, at least he has taken responsibility for the cost of repairs,  pity he didn't get the other cars number. idon't know much about tyres, i know some are directional, could you not put the undamaged ones on the front or rear, again not knowing much about tyres don't  either the front's or rear's were out quicker anyway.

OOch!! Thats some wack. You have a good buddy stumping up without any hassle. Are all the steering links all OK after a whack like that.  Good luck with the repairs

Looks like new wheel to me and I'd be checking suspension components as well. I have those tyres in my Evora and they are fab. They are coming top in group tests.

Suspension components all good :-)

Geometry all good :-)

Brand new Conti Sport 6's on cold winter roads...  Not so good :-(  Will be taking it a bit easy until scrubbed in.

Wheels apparently repairable and no buckling.  Will be repaired and resprayed (all 4 to match) on Thursday.

End result....  Wheels repaired and resprayed in "Shadow Chrome" by 'The Wheel Specialist' in Dorset.

Very pleased with end result.  Photos don't do justice to colour.  Wheels change from silver to black depending on which angle you look at them from.

Just need to wash it now :-(

That's a stunning colour, I'll try and remember that if I need a refurb.

Nice job....out of interest has anyone tried to put the wheels back to their original exposed metal/matt black finish. I'm thinking it could be an expensive job...?

Just did my wheels in shadow chrome, but they worked out darker than I expected. That is exactly "depending on viewing angle they are either black or dark grey chrome". The problem I asked them slightly darker and the guy understood "as dark as possible". Overall I really like deep shine of the wheels, but next time I will try to do them lighter.

Looks good but they have put the wheels back on the wrong side of the car.

Oh yeah...  Good spot.  Tyres are on the correct sides.  I doubt it makes that much difference so not gonna lose much sleep over it.  Will get them swapped about when tyre change for Nurburgring later this year occurs.

Cheers.

Thanks bud.

Welcome to the forum.  I am a bit of a newbie myself as not had Lichelle the Lexus a year yet.

Had mine a year this month, major service at Lexus Bristol yesterday no problems at all which seems the norm for these, F being my first Lexus.

Cannot say the same for the other so called premium marquees from personal experience.
