Dear all,

Please help with an annoying fault

When I depress the clutch pedal I am getting an annoying clicking sound and feel through the pedal. It feels as if it is something to do with the pedal itself, but I am told it is the mechanics in the clutch which would be fixed if I replaced it. It is the most annoying thing ever when driving.

P.S. Tried WD40 etc on pedal without success

Anyone had similar problems?

Have you checked that its not catching the capet or mats?

This happens a LOT!

And it does feel like its the pedal.

if you have this sound at idle with no gear engaged and it stops when pushing the clutch pedal, it is you have to change the clutch (the clutch stop bush is over)

what sort of age and mileage is the is200? this is quite a common problem on newer ones and the carpet next to where the steering column goes through the bulkhead catches the clutch pedal when lifted from the floor! use a torch and work the clutch pedal with your hand and have a good look around before replacing the cluch. if it is catching cut a small section off with a stanley knife.

Its a '99 with 39000 miles - have already inspected the carpet theory but I will try again after your advice - feels more mechanical though

Thanks
