Hi

I've just taken the plunge and bought a 2007 RX 400h se L.

It has a couple of body work issues around the windscreen (rust) and a couple of car minor scraps, wheels could do with a referb. Lovely in side and drives very well with no issues.  Will need to do the cambelt but been quoted £330 by Indy specialist. I paid just under 6k for it as a private sale.  It's got Lexus service history for 7 years then local garage there after.

Can I claim on the warranty for the corrosion problem? And will Lexus be able to tell me if the recalls have been conducted?

Many thanks. Andrew

Hello Andrew and welcome to the LOC.

I understand that Lexus UK provide a 12 year corrosion warranty but certain conditions have to be met for this to apply, I would either check these in your warranty booklet if provided or contact your local dealer.

Regarding recalls again your local Lexus dealer would be able to provide this informatIon, bear in mind they may ask for proof of ownership so take the V5C and some photo ID with you.

Also check the price of the cambelt replacement, Lexus offer a discounted service arrangement for cars over 5 years old and are quoting £295.00 for your cambelt change.

Thanks for the info, Lexus Glasgow quoted £930 for 100k service changing the cambelt and water pump. Is this excessive?

According to the list from Lexus the 100k service as described below is £645.00 but what it means by "longer service items" I am unsure whether this includes the cambelt and water pump kit.

FULL + 100
Our most comprehensive service, with the additional 100,000 mile replacement of longer service interval items.

Just noticed the coolant header tank on the front radiator didn't have any coolant in it. I have topped it up to the required level and will keep an eye on it. Are these systems prone to leaks?

Just had a Lexus health check.......

need new radiator, replace rear brakes, pads, disks, handbrake cable, headlamp level sensor, rust around windscreen.

had the cambelt and water pump 100k service with heatshield and exhaust repaired. Lexus dealer said it would be able to help with the rust around the windscreen as they said it had been resprayed/ touched up, I disagreed with this and wanted any pointers or contacts to help claim on the corrosion warranty, hopefully nothing else will bite me in the bum, on the up side,  I only paid 5500 for it

cheers
