But it wasn't the car's fault.

Good news: if you, too, are stupid enough to lock your car keys in the boot, the AA can break in and unlock it.  And if you're in East Suffolk you may get Colin, the efficient, friendly and good-humoured patrolman who can do it in five minutes.

If ever I open the boot, I always check (at least 5 times) I have keys about my person before I shut the boot.

Did something similar with Vaux Omega years ago, and the AA sorted it out quickly.

Makes you wonder if an AA man ever went rogue, they could get away with anything!

I could have a go myself now, if I were so inclined.  It looks easy enough!

The thread title shook me to the core :wink3:....glad you got it sorted.

Presumably the AA man turned a blind eye to the body in the boot?

A couple of years ago I was driving my wife to London for a hospital appointment when the car broke down (not the Lexus!) The AA arrived within about 20 mins, got the car going, and because he knew we had an important appointment he followed us all the way to the hospital just in case, about 5 miles.  I've got nothing but praise for AA patrolman (and presumably women)

......  I vaguely remember the times ( the 1950's ) when in the Lake District the AA patrolman, on his motorbike and sidecar, actually saluted the Member ( my uncle ) with his AA badge proudly affixed to the front bumper ( of his Triumph Renown ).

a little nostalgia I'm afraid

I can just remember that. You can imagine what they would say now, "Sorry, can't take my hand off the wheel to salute you, health and safety"!

My AA guy said, 'I don't get called out to many of these.'  I wanted to reply, 'I hope you don't get called out to any of them.'

But yes, I did close the boot again very quickly so he wouldn't see the body.

Too late, you've just confessed to it on the WWW!

Every time I shut a door or boot I frantically check for my keys if not in my hand. Self locking is a great idea...but...
