De-badging. Is it naff?

I like my cars unbadged so I guess for the first time in my life I'm a Chav. Not bad considering it's taken 44 years to get the title. ;)

Really, just 2 litre, I always assumed there must be much more.  Well I'm about to become a 64 year old chav so you beat me to it. The thing is, the LS is about as un-chavy as you can get, so I don't think the title will stick.

Some cars look better in some colours than others, its the same with debadging, some cars will look clean some plain. Its also a personal choice as to wether it works. Ive debaged some of mine, but driving a lexus is a cut above so they stay on!

I think when it comes to de-badging there are a few factors to consider :

Can they be stuck back on if need be,
Where the badges are located,
What type of badges are you removing  (Make / Model / Variant).

I'm going to remove the 'Lexus' & 'LS460' badges from the boot of my new acquired LS460 as i prefer the clean & uncluttered look.

Well just be careful because when I began to remove mine I found that they are fixed into the boot with pegs, so if yours is the same you'll have to have the holes filled and repainted!

I wondered when this was going to be discovered, not only are there locating pegs but there are also plastic inserts in the holes which need to be removed and then the holes need to be filled.

The paint job cost alone makes it uneconomical to remove the badges.

I'm just very thankful that I discovered it before I peeled too much off.  Anyway, that's another lesson learned, and as Jason says I'll just be happy to fly the flag!

Hi,

Well after doing some research into removing the badges from my LS460, I'm in the understanding that there are no locating pins on the badges so they'll becoming off asap.

People will still know its a Lexus by the center L badge, i'm just removing the 'Lexus' & 'LS460' from the rear as i think they make it look cluttered & messy.

It will make people look twice as they try to work out what make it is. I have seen some debadged Astras and really had to think carefully before fully realising what car they were. Astras are very common so that observation surprised me.

I done the same with my RX a while back and think it looks better in my opinion.

I also done the same with my previous freelanderI
