hi guys just took car for mot and failed on parking brake lever has no reserve travel offside.and rearparking brake recording littte or no effort offside rear ,going to have a look in morning any ideas would be great thanks col

The parking brake suffers from problems with the cable seizing where it enters the rear back plates. Obviously the condition of the rear brake shoes, and adjustment of them plays it's part particularly for those that forget to release the brake before moving off, and are reminded by the beep warning tone from the car.

When changing my disks and pads, I thought my parking brake shoes were very worn but when the new ones arrived they looked just the same, so I didn't bother changing them, so it may not be the shoes.

offside shoes worn down replaced them and adjusted cable took it in today and passed but quizzed other half and admitted she may have driven it with brake on .
