Hi all,

I have just purchased my 1st IS220D previous to this I had a 250bhp is200 supercharged but due to my son being born I needEd somthing more practical. Got a few questions about the 220.

It's done 133k well looked after cataclean added every 8k and egr removed and cleaned every 8k and is very clean. I have no black smoke at all out the back at all.

1. It seems to be very very slow of the mark with very little power so little it struggles from stand still to mount a curb. Once moving it feels fine and pretty quick for the size and weight.

2. I want to lower it as it's so high I want it to look more car like and less 4 x4 but don't want to lose comfort is there such a option available.

3.I don't have the Dab option is fitting a aftermarket dab device easy to do and is the stereo easy to get out.

4. I'm getting about 27mpg average mostly town driving is this normal?.

5. The speedo needle has to light out on the top and bottom of needle can these be replaced or do I need a whole speedo.

6.I'm about to do an oil change fiuel filter change is there anything I need to look out for or do when doing this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Welcome to diesel Lexus ownership.

They are not the quickest off the mark.  If you get caught at very low rpm in second or third, it can be downright dangerous.  Having said that, it shouldn't have trouble mounting a curb.  Does it boost at around 1600rpm?  Also, does it idle fine?

As for lowering it, have a look here:

Robb has some coilovers fitted to his and he seems to like them.

I haven't really investigated DAB options, but the stereo is relatively easy to remove.  Some trim on the centre console needs to come out, along with the centre air vents.  Then it is just a case of unbolting.  Do you have the sat nav fitted to yours?

When I drove around London, I was getting somewhere between 25-30mpg, so yours seems about right.  With some motorway driving mixed in, I am now averaging 37mpg.

Don't know about the speedo needle, sorry.

Oil change is pretty much straightforward, but regarding the fuel filter, my advice would be to get someone else to do it!  It is a pig of a job - God knows what Lexus were thinking when they designed it.
