Normal for engine to start when you power on?

Can you name a few refinements in the GS body compared to the IS? Both have different interior designs, but the GS didn't look or feel better than the IS at first sight. I drive a Prius though, so both are a lot better in materials used.

What I was surprised by in a brief test drive of the new RX450h was the mpg. My old modifed 400bhp 3L twinturbo BMW 335i returned about the same efficiency!!  

Doesnt weigh anywhere close to 2.1 tonnes though does it? 

Besides, I think it must have been ragged. Doing 80mph on the motorway achieve 34mpg for me.

or close to 50 mpg in my GS300H.
