Ls400 steaming up

My new purchase seems to steam the screen up any time  i put the fan on. It doesnt happen when air con is on.  Ive had a few cars do this . Surely it cant be right

Look at the cabin pollen filter. If this are gundgy they often clog up the air flow. Air-con will usually clear anything.

John, I've had this problem recently too, so I replaced the pollen filter,(easy Job on an LS). One thing I've found though, and this applies to any car; I never use the Recirculation button without the A/C being on, because when it is raining, being in Recirculation mode without A/C switched on will guarantee you a quickly fogged up windscreen. Recirculation mode is only safe when it's not humid outside or it's not raining. In fact I found that the A/C works better with Recirculation switched on. Having only outside air to the vents i.e. Recirculation off, also stops fogging up.

I tried all settings but it only clears when the air con is on.  Ill change rhe filter.

It could also be damp getting in from blocked sunroof drains or from the front doors by the tweeters, or perhaps you're just a moist fellow!

John - I'd not changed the pollen filter - that might be the cause.  I never had steaming up though - but just remembered that the HVAC had begun to default to recirculation on when the car was started - which it never did before. Sorry I forgot to mention this.  Hope she is otherwise well!  Tom
