Looking to purchase a Lexus RX 450 2013  serviced at 20k 40k 50k  missing the 10k and 30k would this cause problems if I extend the warranty?

Hi. Probably not if nothing was flagged up on the service reports. Have a look at them if you can.

Mine had a very patchy servicing history. I took it in for 100k service, timing belt change and MOT at official Lexus garage and once they fixed everything and did the checks, they offered me the extended warranty, £1000 for 2 years with recovery included.

The thing is, there are so many RX450h available that A) why would you bother and B) welcome a stupid price come selling time?

My RX400 had a couple of services that were several months/couple of thousand miles overdue, but I haven't had any problem with the warranty when making claims. I think they would be more interested in making sure that you keep up to date with the servicing after you take out the policy.

Thats all well and good but there are plenty of cars out there so going for 1 with less that its fair share of service history is just odd right? Unless of course, the price is playing a factor, then that would be different.

Sure, there is plenty of choice so no reason to pick a car with an incomplete history all else being equal. However, when I bought my car from a Lexus main dealer I just assumed that the service book would have been complete. Turned out that the first owner had chosen to service his car every 10K miles, no matter how much time had passed by, leaving some gaps in the service history.

Technically if you have gaps then Lexus GB could refuse a factory warranty claim on the hybrid system etc. Extended warranty shouldn't be an issue if it was all approved.
