IS250 "ticking" until clutch pressed

Hi guys,

ive had a good read up on what I'm hearing and from what I read on most cars with this issue, there's mixed opinions (I'm not mechanically minded)

when Idleing I can her a ticking noise until a press the clutch pedal in. I can hear the noise when accelerating but it doesn't really get much louder.

the car is on 71,000 with no documentaion of a clutch change.

some people are saying just change the clutch, some say it maybe a throw out bearing, some say release bearing....

i just wanted to see what your thoughts were before I go buying a new clutch..

any thoughts would be appreciated :)

cheers guys

Well I cannot really advise on the fault for few reasons.. first of all ticking noise is very generic description and it can be almost anything, secondly I never owned manual IS250.

What I wanted to say.. if you come to replacing clutch, then all bearings replacement would be standard procedure, I doubt that Lexus would even agree to replace just a clutch without bearings.. some independent geniuses might do.

Fair point but it goes away when the clutch pedal is pressed in... I just wanted to know really if anyone else has experienced this prior to a change of clutch or is there something that's common knowledge among the IS250 that I could be missing

Ticking on the 250 is usually associated with the injectors.

I though that would be to obvious... But as OP stated it stops with depressing clutch .. so that is not injectors (BTW injectors must be clicking that is normal).

Yes IS250 manual does have a DMF, there is lots of discussion / evidence on the judder issue 1st & 2nd gear, seems to disappear when engine & transmission warms up.

I've not heard that described as a ticking noise though at start up or idle??

Don't think he'll reply. Not been here since Aug 2016. Was only a member for a couple weeks. Maybe start a new thread.
