Hi guys,

spent ages searching for a nice IS250, almost gave up trying to find one pre 2006 with good mileage and manual! (Not fussy at all)

this is one popped up literally last min with a full Lexus SH and 1 owner from new!

My previous car was a civic type R and after owning the Lexus for a week I'd never go back.

Hi Ceri and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over.

We always like to see pictures of members cars so don't be shy.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later.

Welcome

Nice looking car there.  Any more pics?

My friend used to have a CTR.  Good car, but the revvy nature can get a bit tiresome after a while.

Oh, and perhaps I am reading this wrong, but it sounds like you were specifically looking for a IS that was pre 2006 and manual?  If so, how come?

Cheers guys!

I've only got pics from when it was for sale, I haven't had a chance yet to give it a good wax so that's my plans for the weekend :)

yeah the CTR was good fun but motorways were annoying because you'd have to drop the gear hitting 6,500 to get a good acceleration and the cabin noise was too much when you just want to go for a trip.

I had to pick a pre 2006 mainly on budget but I couldn't justify paying £490 tax. I wanted a manual mainly because I thought it may be less to go wrong and couldn't really decide if I liked the paddle shift (although I've read it's probably the best option)

Its a pretty clean car on all fairness, a few little mark which I'll tidy up but all in all I'm really impressed with it!

what you driving shahpor?

I have a 2008 IS 220d SE-L in Windsor blue with Ivory leather.

I am afraid I have been lazy and don't have any pictures of mine, expect one:

Mine is the one on the right, next to an identical spec 250.

It has been just over a year and 11k miles since I bought it, and I love being in it.  Not the greatest drive in the world, but a very nice place to sit for those long motorway journeys.

Great choice and and a lovely car.

I agree on your previous car. I had a Swift Sport before my CT and couldn't put up with all the noise and keeping in the revs for power especially on motorways.

CTR was a ground breaker in it's day though.

I had one in 2004(ish), and for £16k on the road, there was nothing to touch it, in it's class, imo.

As to having to change gear, that was never a chore to me, the gearbox was a jewel.

That said, I wasn't sorry to change it after about 18 months, I think it's one of those cars that you enjoy owning, but maybe not keeping long term.

Looks nice shahpoor! I was hunting for that colour originally. I agree, it's definitely a nice place to be on a trip, seems decent on fuel too considering.

any pics of your Lexus stormchaser? I think a CTR is something you have to own once just for the experience / fun but yeah long term I suppose it's what ever you are into.

couldnt agree with you more MikeyV,

great fun and the handling is sharp.

I remember when I was a kid and seen the fith gear cover on the Integra DC2 Type R and years after the EP3 on top gear. Two wild cars that looked different from the rest and got heads turning. I've been lucky enough to own both and I'm glad to have experienced them :)

i think the Lexus is one I'll have for a while now, I don't do big mileage and so far it seems really easy to live with, very happy with it

Thanks Ceri.

I do need to give it a clean and get some pictures at some point.

I love DC2's, although I have never been in one.  The idea of a smallish, light and nippy car appeals to me.  Also, high revving is more fun.  Unfortunately, I think I have now missed out on the opportunity to own one.

I did spend quite a few hours in the passenger seat of my friends CTR though, so had a bit of fun.  He had a GruppeM intake fitted, so the engine note would shift when the VTEC kicked in, which sounded awesome.  Although the Tein adjustable coil overs he had weren't so much fun.

Can't remember exactly how long ago this was, but he bought it brand new, so it is over a decade.  I am more of an armchair motorist now, so no more boy racer cars with rock hard suspension for me.

Something tells me this is not a problem for you Ceri, since you mentioned being a kid when fifth gear was on.

No I couldn't stand it any longer. Fast car but not economical and a very hard suspension. Reviews are great for this car but it's not very well built anymore.

Haha I need to give mine a good clean too! Yeah good fun but not for me anymore!

its become a problem recently hah! 30 this year and getting married next year, time to calm down now... Unless I make some big bucks and an afford something like an RS6 :D

I've had my share of rock hard rides, I'm now in the comfy cruise zone 8-)
