Not sure if that can be taken as example for IS or compared with better than standard issue Dunlop Sport Maxx RT (B,A,67db) for example, but here you have it .. if you run RX then all season Michelin Cross climate are better than Dunlop SP270 (rated D for economy, E for Wet and 71db).

No you're confused - the RX was originally on Dunlop SP270 from factory. Had Michelin latitude Tour HP fitted which are M+S rated. They're better in every category including wear (and I dont mean just the ratings but the feel of them too).

Therefore I was just pointing out that "All season tyres" are rubbish statement is not fully justified - it completely depends on what tyre it is - the Michelin cross climate tyres are the bees knees, revolutionary in fact. Almost like the new Bridgestone run flats that have just come out

Hi I had another look at my wheel sizes ,all 4 wheels are lexus and marked 8 J ; 18 inch  I think they may be from a different model ,according to the paperwork I received when I bought the car they appear on the check sheet at the 3rd service 3 years ago so my rears are non standard not being 81/2 J

I bought a pair of michelin pilot sport nearly new for 15 pounds thats why they are on. And yes i run 225 40 18s front and 245 40 18s rears which is correct for

8j rims.

That is fine, I got your point. What I am saying and we are kind of making same point - you need to compare two specific tires. Yes Michelin latitude Tour HP might be better than Dunlop SP270 on RX, but that doesn't apply to IS 250 on 18's wheels with the options available for it. Equally there might be another summer tire which is better than Michelin Latitude, yet probably cheaper. Especially, considering the fact that Dunlop SP270 is far from best tire - mediocre at best.
