Hi all,

Picking up a 2006 56 plate 1 owner from new GS450h on Tuesday, which will hopefully be superb, but the prestige dealer (not Lexus) only has one key.

Anyone any idea of the process and especially the cost to get a second keyless entry ordered/coded etc. from Lexus or elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

Afraid to say they don't come cheap. I was recently quoted around £320 for a key fob including programming etc for an isf so would think the price would be the same .

Hi I,m afraid this was also my experience, buying my lexus from a main Volvo dealer  when we came to the final check having agreed all the aspects ,he said he only had one key , I insisted on a 2nd to close the deal ,he agreed saying they would ' sort it ' without any problem .after trying for a week he had to reluctlently go to Lexus  the bill was in the paperwork ,£320 including 1/2 hr labour for programming

Phoned the Lexus dealer today who have serviced the car for it's lifetime, and they think around £250, so maybe discounted slightly.

I'd also, potentially be able to use my LOC Lexus dealer discount too hopefully!

Programming the key must be the easiest money that a dealership makes, it literally takes longer to get to the car and into the workshop than programming it.

£250 :(  I am hoping it will be no more than that.

Also - any thoughts - LOADS of used keys on eBay, which the dealer said was not the best idea BUT I can buy one, not be bothered about the skeleton key and the actual fob would be less than £40...any thoughts on that one?

You can reprogram used smart keys, depends if your dealer will actually do it though!

EDIT: Just make sure you get the same key model/part number
