Telephone is connected on hands free but when a call or a message comes in the car screen shows the number as unknown and has put a 44 in front of the number. Most calls that I receive are from people in my contact list and the names show up when the contact list is opened. Not a massive problem but it would be good to know whose on the other end without trying to remember who the last three or four numbers belong to. Any ideas if there is something in settings which will sort this out?

Try updating the contact to have the number in international format. I.e. Instead of 01234567891 use +441234567891. Sounds like your phone is reporting the call to the car in that format but it can't match it tot a contact in your list (which is synced with the car).

are your phone numbers stored on your phones memory or the sim card as i am sure they have to be on the phone memory

for the car to recognise them

Don't know about the op, but my mobile saves contacts to my Google account by default.

Thank you for your replies and as you know the contacts list is automatically updated when the phone connects to the car. My contacts are stored in the phone memory not the sim as if they are stored in both you get a double entry on the car contacts list. I am going to go with colin 79666 suggestion which seems a very good one. Thanks for that. I will update the post when I've got round to doing this.

I changed all the numbers in my phone contact list to the +44 format but did not make any difference, so decided to change them back to the UK format. Hey presto when connected back to the car the names appear with the UK format number. No idea what I did different.
