Optimum tyre pressure

Hi All,

I've recently replaced all four tyres on my IS250 for Uniroyal Rainsport 3 from camskills (excellent value!).

They seem to be very good especially in rain with the exception of the side walls  being very sensitive as I've hit a kerb while parking and lost a small chunk of it!

Anyways, during weekdays I do mainly motorway / A roads alone at speeds of 80 / 90  and weekends city driving with family.

I've been using the recommended tyre pressures 35 at the front (225/45/17) and 38 at the back (245/45/17).

What tyre pressure would you recommend from your experience?

Im running Goodyear F1 3s {  225 40 18 34lbs }  & { 245 40 18 36lbs }

I am using what was on the car from new by tyre brand and size, Bridgestone Turanza.  Also stuck with the Lexus recommended pressures at 35/38 cold.  Seems to work for me but then I don't hurry anywhere :-)  Sure there are lots of owners with varying experiences.

I'd use higher pressure than recommended as uniroyal have extremely soft sidewalls

Hi I agree with rayaans  I fitted a set of rainsport 3 to my IS200 Sportcross before I sold it last year, they have excellent grip but the side walls are very flexible ;the tyre fitter said it would help if the pressures were increased by 2-3 psi all round on Lexus recommendations .I am looking at tyres now for my IS250C which is a heavier car ;and think I may give the uniroyals  a miss .

The good years have a soft side wall but i like the way it rides. One plus point they have a good rim protector on them.

I run 36psi front & 38 psi rear on the 17 inch standard wheels. So see how it goes and may change yet, as they havent been on long.

Pressure is very personal thing and varies from personal comfort and tires type. It should never be less than PSI 35F/38R. I personally run 38F/40R, because i found it has better wear on my tires (Dunlop) and makes car firmer and "nicer" to drive.
