IS 250, Auto head lights sensitivity

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Please can some one explain to me how to adjust the auto-on headlight sensitivity.

Reading the hand book, it suggests that the default is setting 3

However the setting range is 1 to 5

I would like if possible to have my auto headlights come on sooner.

At the moment on the default setting, I feel the outside daylight is too low, before it brings on the auto headlights.

I did think about putting a darkish plastic film over the daylight sensor, but would rater a more suitable fix.

If you have Navigation, Go on Menu, then Setup.

Then go to Vehicle Customization and then Light Settings. It should be under there. If you can't find it, let us know.

Its possible that if you bought your car used, someone could have put it down to 1 which is the lowest setting. Just turn it back up to 3 and you should be OK.

If its already on 3, go to 4, see if you are satisfied and if not go to 5.

If you don't have Navigation, then I think only Lexus dealership can do it via Lexus Configuration. At least light sensitivity is definitely an option on the customization sheet.

Oh, don't have Navy, but put a small piece of black PVC insulation tape on the sensor, now works great, had to try different sizes of tape before I was happy.

I'd like my lights to come on sooner too.  The facility referred to isn't in my Navigation menu.

You might have a button saying Setup or something like that - is it under there?

Thats very odd - would have thought its under the Setup button on the centre console or atleast somewhere in one of the menus

Might be under setup and general settings if you have that?

Checking my manual, it states that the setting can be adjusted by the dealer, so you probably need the techstream software and adaptor cable to make the change.
