Stalling 220d

Hi

I am having a small problem with my car (2006 220d )

when I start the car first thing in the morning it starts ok but after about 20 seconds it stops, and it won't restart unless I use the (prime)           Button .

After that it starts and stops all day without any problems

Must be something to do with the fuel supply, but don't know where to start

Any help most welcome

With diesel engines a common problem is air getting into the fuel line overnight, the usual culprit is the fuel filter so check all the pipe connections and the filter for tightness. If there is nothing obvious try covering the pipe connections with petroleum jelly and see if the car starts normally the next morning, this would confirm the air leakage.
