LS400 MK3 Silver - Number of Variations

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Would anyone know, or know where I can find the different variations of silver used?

I've seen a possible door for mine, but the seller lives a fair distance away, and doesnt have the VIN (which I think indicates the colour used?)

My own book only lists my car as being Silver (upon sale) Was it possible that only one silver was made?

Hi ,  The colour code is stamped on the small plate next to the RH front strut

mounting under the bonnet. Bottom line, 1st 3 digits, mine is 1CO., but mines a 2000 model.

Hope this helps.         Les.

Mark,

There were several silver variations for that series 2 1997 model.

The colour code is universal and when identified as a match is easy to order.

There are paint companies who can identify the colour from a chip of the paint.

Ask your seller to get a chip  of paint off the door inside the rubber seal where the sealant as been applied between panel joints and send that off to a paint company that can identify it.

Use the subject of an order for scratch touch up, then you have a touch up paint for the car.

.......  paint matching ......  recently I took a chip of my front door paint to Johnstone's  for matching  ..............  I live in a Conservation Area and obliged to repaint the same colour etc. without Planning Permission for a change.

It's easy peasy, they have a simple electronic gadget that reads the base colours of the paint  in the sample and mix base colours to exact spec. ...  that's for wooden front doors though ! :whistling:
