I've got a 2007 GS and when I open the boot all it does is effectively unlock it and leaves it resting closed but open (if you know what I mean!?)

Should the struts have enough power to actually open it fully when the electric lock is opened?  Just wondered if the 9 year old struts need replacing to make the boot open fully when remotely opened?  If not the whole electronic boot lock seems a bit of overkill - the designers may as well put a standard mechanical lock in as you still need to lift it open from the handle/switch position!?

My IS does that too - I think the reason is so that it doesn't hit someone in the face - trust me, seen it happen before!

Both my old GS300 and my newer GS450 merely release it. I am not aware that it should open fully.

Same in mine just unlock. There is some extra feature in opposite direction though. When you are closing it is enough to just slightly push it down (to around 1-2cm from fully closed) and it will close/lock by itself. I believe this is the situation which requires that lock and this is the situation when this funny strap on left side is used :)

In my previous accord estate I got fully electric rear tail gate. Useful think but GS solution is also fine.
