Plugs were 166.00 inc vat , which was why i had them done.   came to 181.00 with the puncture repair. I could of done the plugs myself next year, but a no

brainer with having the recall done. Really pleased with the service from bradford lexus.

Hey Guys,

I too had the letter through the post. I got mine booked in for 2 weeks time, they agreed a courtesy car too (haven't told me which one).

I got my car serviced independently as I'm not a fan of the charges dealers seem add to the invoice plus my car is 07 plate so nothing really specialist needed. 

I noticed Lexus Woodford seems to be mentioned a fair bit in this post. I literally live the same distance between them and Lexus Edgeware, and I'm glad I followed my gut booking it with Edgeware.

When I was searching for an IS250 I went to see the chaps at Woodford and was appalled at the poor customer service. I ended up buying a similar car for £1500 less with full dealer service history and invoices (although it was from a sleezy, scummy independent dealer, who claimed an oxygen sensor failing was not his fault and refused to replace it for free) but I saved £1500 so hey ho. Since then I don't go near Lexus in Woodford plus I have seen their name in this forum far too many times for my liking.

Yes seems strange service from different dealers varies,we cant all afford new. I originally booked with leeds but changed to bradford through a forum member.

I mentioned this to bradford who were pleased i did. I had car picked up by a guy called richard,talked me through what would be done really helpful.

Had car next morning around 9 o clock refuelled, wasnt cleaned as i asked not to be. Car had a full health check all ok except slight rear disc corrosion.

I can definitely recommend Lexus Edgware road.  I have had brilliant service from them.

If I hadn't moved so far away, mine would be going back there for anything it needs.

As it stands, it is going in for a service in 2 weeks, so I hope Lexus Reading are as good.

Mine was done on Friday at Lexus Teesside, was given an IS300H as a loan for the day. I took half a day of work so I could take it for a proper spin :)

Also got the complimentary fuel as per other's here and was told that it was to compensate for the inconvenience, so it's clearly Lexus policy on the recall. 

I asked if both the washer and sensor had been replaced and was told that both were changed. They took all day and in fact I had to chase them to find out if my car was ready to collect. They offered to let me keep the loan car overnight but I had an early start the next morning so I declined.

As expected, I also got a Vehicle Health Check report (but no video...)

All green, apart from tyres (all of which have 4mm or more tread so I'm not worried just yet) and brakes (front disks lipped, rear pads on 4mm/3mm) but there was a comment of 'NSF Bottom Ball joint leaking grease' so I will have to get that looked at.

The story with aircon compressor happened last month when I was doing annual service, at the time I was doing service they noted recall is coming up, but they don't have parts and cannot do it yet. I got assumption they didn't have sensors, because assistant mentioned - "this time different parts will be changed, compared with previous recalls and not only gasket as before" .

I am in two minds as they are closer buy Lexus Sidcup just a few miles away seem better dealer as they said car will be required for half-day whereas Woodford said 1.5 hours.

Looking forward to hearing from you so that I can book my recall service. - Thanks

I looked at the Toyota recall website today and found a recall flag regarding my car. 

I called my local Lexus dealership and the lad I spoke to could not find the recall, he looked on another system :rolleyes: and found that it was a passenger airbag issue but Toyota have not made the dealership aware when this will be done.

Not very inspiring is it?

I would say nothing except of ordinary. I am sure they have marked me as trouble maker - because I have complained quite a lot because of number of mistakes they made last time. That said service was ok, they finally had my details right, I have received call confirming my service and courtesy car was made available.

They have replaced only the gasket and not the sensor, when asked they said they only replacing sensors if one cannot be re-used e.g. damaged during replacement or already faulty. They have refilled about quarter of tank, so I would say ~15-20L which is nice. As well they did visual safety inspection (same as provided with service), but they didn't do video for it as other have mentioned.

They called me hour later to say visual inspection is complete and about 2 hours later to confirm recall is finished, so I would say it took them about 1,5 -2h of work to do it, though I don't know in which order they did the cars (there were ~6 other IS for same thing that morning).

Car was returned washed and vacuumed, which again is expected (to be fair I have never liked quality of was and vac from Lexus, but it is great price/quality ration... simply because it is free).

Overall, nothing bad or good - just a casual service. I wouldn't be worried about taking car there. Maybe last time was unfortunate for them.

P.S. they in progress moving from Toyota building to refurbished Lexus building nearby, so make sure you check where you need to come. They are next 2 each other, but if you drive to Toyota one first you will need to do large circle to get back to Lexus.

Same was for me with the fuel sensor gasket replacement. It was pointed out by dealership for me when I booked service, but later cancelled - because "they have not received parts/instructions for replacement". 

That said the message you got is kind of premature... they know in advance which cars will require work, but only make parts available and local dealership aware when they have campaign official and communicates about it via DVLA.

I believe this is understandable, because it is their duty to make sure safety recalls are properly communicated to everyone e.g. they don't want those recalls to be done on "case-by-case" basis whenever somebody pops-up, but rather via one single big campaign.

Lets say Toyota site gives you a bit premature message..

Just spoke to my local dealer regarding the airbag recall.

He said it is definitely happening, but they haven't informed everyone since they don't have any stock of airbags.  He took my number and said he would call me when they do arrive to book my car in.

Five minutes after booking my car in at Edgware Road they called me to say it had a passenger side air bag recall and that it would make sense to have both jobs done at the same time , they informed me that they are waiting for parts to come for the air bag and they would contact me when the  parts were in, it would probably be about a month or so , I am looking towards the end of July for the car to have the work done.

I had the same issue when trying to book my car in Lexus Sidcup. They said better to do both jobs same time or I can choose the sensor now and airbag later. However they too dont have the part so have to wait for them to call once parts are in.

I think anyone trying to book the fuel sensor job would be advised to wait and have the air bag done at the same time.

Assuming they will put another 25 litres of fuel (I know... unlikely) and do wash and vac again I can go for recalls every month.

Strange some dealers know when air bag recall will be. I agree with Linas to an extent but when i enquired bradford did not know when they would get the 

go ahead. Of coarse it would of made sense to kill two birds with one stone.

I mean .. obviously if the say - "would you like it airbag recall to be done at the same time" - YES. But if it is - "we don't know when part will be ready and it might be few month later".. then NO.. I will do sensor now, and when they have airbags I will do airbags. It took them ~3 month to get sensor gaskets since the first news of recall come up, similarly I am not expecting them to get airbags in at least a month or 2... SO I guess if you wait until parts are ready and then again for them to find the time to do it, it might be not until August or even September when you get it done.

Does anybody know what the problem with the air bag is ? My car has gone 10 years with the fuel sensor gasket not leaking so I'm not that concerned to much about that, if it fails I should at least get a warning of petrol smell . If the air bag fails I would get no warning until it's to late !

airbags may not inflate during a collision

It's potentially more serious than even that. To quote from the linked article below 'The issue involves defective inflator and propellent devices that may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, shooting metal fragments into vehicle occupants'.

My reply is a straight lift from the UK recall website, I don't think they're as dramatic in reporting of issues, but reading between the lines I can see they meant......

"The airbag may deploy without warning and lacerate human flesh within an area of 2 miles. This may result in a devastating crash with cars flipping into the air, fuel tanks exploding and whole cities being razed to the ground" :lol:

Is it just the passenger side air bag affected ? If so would it be safer to turn it off until the repair is done ?

I think it's just the passenger side - at least for now.

Personal opinion - there have been vanishingly few deaths and injuries caused by malfunctioning airbags, yet many, many people must have been saved from death or injury during the course of this saga by Takata airbags working perfectly well. So I think it's better left on.

Perhaps get my passengers to wear body armour ! I do agree though ,air bags have saved more people than they have injured.
