Secondary Cat Removal - MOT Issue?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a new exhaust made up and fitted next month which removes the secondary cats. Is this likely to cause an issue with emissions come MOT time? My MOT isn't due till late August but it will be done at the local main dealer so I need to make sure that I won't fail the emissions

I'm also thinking about removing secondary cats.

Have already done without rear boxes, but drone was too much. Had a set of silencers fabbed up and fitted, which helped a bit with drone. Reckon on refitting rear boxes and removing secondary cats might be what I need - worth a try?

Don't think seconday cats missing will cause any issues come MOT time. If in doubt get the bods who are fabbing up your new exhaust to flange removed cats so you can refit them. That's my plan?

No issues when I MOT'd mine without the secondary cats. They actually struggled to get any emission reading on my sniff test! :wink3:.

You shouldn't have any issues mate.

Adding silencers in place of the secondary cats helps reduce drone to almost nothing.

My H&S setup is virtually drone free now thanks to the X pipe they added. :yahoo:

Its so quiet and refined for normal use, but when I floor it with kickdown or manual mode, comes alive! :driving:

You should pass emissions just fine without the secondary cats, trust me.

Thanks for the replies. I was planning on leaving the stock bits as they are in the event that I revert to stock come sale time.

Looking forward to having it fitted, going with no secondary cats, X pipe, resonated section on the rear like the Joe Z and twin cutouts. Should sound filthy with the cutouts open 😍
