Had the Check VSC message and engine management and the DSC lights come on last Thursday on way home from work. The AA took it Lexus Hedge End Friday morning. Diagnosis was new DPF required. Was told they wouldn’t know if the extended warranty would accept the claim till Monday. It’s a 2007 IS22D with 91,000+ miles on the clock. They told me to go to the local Enterprise car hire and there would be a car waiting for me. Indeed there was, a Jag XE R Sport (more about that in a mo). Had that for three days then collected an IS 300h from LHE. On Monday was told the DPF is covered and no bills to pay! Excellent service from the Lexus warranty folk and Lexus Hedge End (as usual).

About the Jag - on paper it was what I was thinking of replacing the Lexus with but having driven it back to back with the IS 300h, I’m sticking with Lexus. A better car all round. And with the Lexus customer service on top, a no brainer. Was also interesting what the car hire people told me. They apparently have agreements with all the premium brands to supply cars when dealer courtesy vehicles are not available and they hardly ever get any trade from Lexus but get plenty from BMW, Audi and Mercedes! Goes to prove that Lexus reliability is a fact. Must admit I have had a few little niggles with my IS but all have been resolved with no fuss or cost.

Was very pleased. Sorry for multiple posts. Kept getting a message saying there was a problem so reposted. Only to later find the original ones had posted. Can't work out how to delete the superfluous ones. Not up to usual Lexus service here I'm afraid. :-)

Are you sure the DPF actually needs changing or just cleaning out? Get a regen done first at around £70 before you fork out £1k on a DPF. Unless its full of ash or something

That was your original question wasn't it?

I also want to know if they went in a loss and replaced the dpf or did cleaning of it.

AIL can call and ask them this. Might be mentioned on receipt.

I think they would replace it as they want to make money from lexus UK plus dealers never take cheapest option loool
