LPG 460

Hi there ive not been on the forum for a while ,i still have my ls430 now showing 160000 , has been gased from 99000. my question is can you gas a ls460 with it being a hybred. just a thourght

A while back someone on here mentioned that it cannot be done because of direct injection - however there is video on you tube which shows a ls460 converted and running on LPG so my guess it can be done but the number of installers who have done one is going to be limited.

My advise is ring around some installers and ask them and go with an installer who is experienced in not only LPG but also knows his way round an engine. The LS460 is a complicated car in terms of electronics and you don't want an installation which is not done properly.

Im sure mike (bluesman) will know more than me

also the LS460 in not hybrid at all

cheers cruisermark ,point taken about hybrid, the ones ive driven start on electric then petrol but as you say not hybrid.  

Just doing research as possibly next car, i am very happy with my 430 on gas , equivalent of 47 mpg from a 4.3 v8 , just makes me smile

you must of driven the ls600h - the 460 is just like the 430 - straight 4.6l petrol engine with road tax costing around £500 a year - the ls600h which is a 5l V8 coupled with an electric motor and is reported to run on electric up 30mph. The road tax on the ls600h is around £280

Hi Keith. To my knowledge the LS460 cant be done. But in the last couple of years which is when I looked into it things could have changed. What I would advise is that if any outfit says they can do it ask for the telephone number of the customer so you can check direct with them. There are so many cowboys out there they would have you believe they can convert your TV to run on LPG. Let us know how you get on. Mike.

Cheers Mike only thinking about a change at the moment but i will let you know if i decide on the 460

 

Note to cruisermark .. it was the ls 600h i drove at a Lexus show day at Knowsley Hall . It was the fully loaded limo with all the toys in the back , my son enjoyed playing with the TVs while i was driving and the chauffeur was in the passenger seat , top car ,sorry for the confusion
