I noticed that too, a telling tale that the timing chains really do need replacing at sometime, probably to be safe, 100k mile intervals

Wonder how much that would cost !  not as much as the replacement engine whatever

 ................. am I getting too cynical in my dotage ?  don't answer, it's a rhetorical Q ,   I know the answer

Won't have been an easy search, that's for sure.

Back in the day, there were a few firms importing engines from Japan, don't know if that's still the case.

Lucky we're not in Cuba, they'd just whack a 1.6 Lada engine in.

No such thing as TOO cynical Malc, your cynicism needs to be at max strength these days.

Not far away from me in Leicester, tempted to take a look if work has been done by Lexus.

......  much else worn out or nearing it's change of life at 181,000 miles maybe ?

could become a money pit, but depends on service history I guess

Be interested to read your review Steve

I saw a poorly LS600h recently at Japex Automotive. It had something (expensively) wrong with its hybrid Battery system. Made me want to keep my aged Mk4 for as long as practically possible. Mine was in for replacement of worn out strut bar bushes.
