Does anybody else get an annoying noise from the B-Pillar / drivers door (not sure where it is coming from) when going over pot holes.

It's not quite a rattle, but on certain road surfaces / bumps it makes what I can only describe as a creaking or Popping sound.  At first I thought it was the belt adjuster but no matter what I do I can't get rid of it (packed it out with felt, pressed my finger against it etc).  I'm not even sure where it could be coming from.  I'm now driving the car firmly pressing everywhere I can think of but I cannot suppress it!  Wondered if anybody else has this  / knows a solution, or an idea where it could be coming from.

Ideas / thoughts would be appreciated.

No idea but its a common issue on the RX. The fix is to take it apart and pad everywhere inside, especially where there is metal on metal

Thank Rayaans, sounds like a dealer job then :(

Had exactly the same.  Dealer has adjusted door lock setting and siliconed the seal and now seems to be OK (damp weather may be helping).  Very recent fix though, so still keeping 'an ear' on faint knocking (popping?) sound.  Hazard I suppose with such a quiet car.

Agreed, the quietness of the car exposes so many things that wouldn't normally be noticed.  wish my nearest dealer wasn't an hours drive away!  Thanks for the feedback, I assume they do this under warranty?

The courtesy car I had at the last service didn't do it, made the interior feel much better put together, strange what the off sound makes.  I was wondering if it was maybe the seal creaking, going to get some silicon spray as that is the last thing that I can do to resolve this.

Yes but be careful. Lexus warranty on rattles is only 2 years now but they'll probably sort it regardless

I was told it changed last year but my dealer says they usually do it anyway and claim it as "repair" instead of "rattle"

does this mean the build quality of a lexus isn't as good as it should be ,so after 24 months

of use, it would now be reasonable to assume you may find the interior panels could squeak, creek or rattle.

this is very poor.

I was told that there will be rattles in any car and that they should be found in the first 2 years. They said afterwards it could be anything causing it

I once read a letter in a motoring magazine suggesting that owners of luxury cars with rattles or squeaks should take them to down-market

workshops which, being accustomed to lower build quality, are generally better able to handle this kind of problem.   The author, I seem to

recall, was an irate Class E owner who had ended up using a KIA garage to rectify a dashboard rattle after several unsuccessful attempts

by his own dealer.   The 300h, I am glad to say, has never given me cause to test the soundness of this advice, but I do remember an

occasion in a first-generation 250 when, suspecting a slow puncture, I reluctantly pulled into a seedy one-pump garage specialising in

tractor repairs somewhere in the middle of France.   After efficiently changing a wheel, the proprietor, complete with greasy overalls and

a Gauloise permanently stuck to his lower lip, took only five minutes to permanently sort out a maddening rattle in a door which my Lexus

dealer back home had not managed to do after keeping the car for a whole day.

rattle & creeks aren't the easiest issues to find they can take a lot of time to locate and rectify

i know this from my days with the CT,get yourself some self adhesive foam & felt so you have

what you need when you come across the offending part,

Still no rattles whatsoever in the IS. Nothing at all its dead silent.

My are has developed about  2 in the past year though which are rectified by loading it with 5 passengers :/
