I have noticed from day one that one has to be very gentle when starting the car from still position in first gear on auto transmission. Else it jumps and anything on the seat moves or falls off. Is this normal?

Doesn't sound right to me.  My previous IS250 and my present 250C don't do this, very smooth take off.

That is not normal mine don't do that either take it to auto box specialist. What milage????? Try getting  filter and oil change or it might need adjustment.good luck

about 47k.

It is like, the acclerator paddle is very sensitive. Feels more like the car is in advance timing in the first gear if it makes sense...

I would like to compare it to another lexus is250. Or take it to lexus...

The gears on the IS250 Auto are smooth like butter, defo something not right! Just a thought, have you tried an ECU reset, maybe something went wrong and its remembered the settings?

PWR is OFF? To be honest even with PWR-ON I have no such issues. Sound weird.

There was mention ... some time ago ... about an issue where a solenoid on top of the gearbox housing was found to suffer from corrosion. Think it resulted in selector issues.

I wonder if this has any bearing on your issue?

sounds drastic. Is it something DIY?

Still hoping its my driving style and I need to acclerate slower... Will compare it with another auto transmission car...

Maybe ... are you a bit of a pull away animal?

If I wellie it a bit aggressively at pull away then stuff could shoot across the seats. But that is only if I'm being a bit of a nutter.

Jut to reiterate what others have said this does not sound correct, mine pulls away beautifully

Just to chip in and agree with all comments above - its not normal. Are the revs higher than usual when you first start the car

Have you got or had any error codes or had the ecu read lately?

I had an error code months ago that LED me to the gearbox solenoid and as Normski said it related to the gearbox. It turned out to be a very vague code but I narrowed it down eventually as condensation on or in the solenoid (found reference to it from forums in the US)

I cleared the fault and it has not come back - it did lead me to look at changing the gearbox oil but could not get any clear info on whether the oil could actually be changed and from the people that said it could be done they all said it was not a diy job.

Just a thought but could it be throttle body need cleaning. Mine pull away very smooth until I put my foot down like a boy racer :xmas:

Could it be a TPS failure? (throttle position sensor) This would be highlighted in the error codes if read

....unfortunately if U had a code related to solenoid...its a way to gearbox specialist...I read plenty info about A960E gearbox...its not a easy animal to DIY with...Even the oil change is quite a task...Give me the code, I will look after it...maybe will find something...

Not sure how it can be a selector issue, it cannot select a lower gear than 1. Possible throttle issue, TPS incorrectly adjusted etc.

Worth test driving another vehicle to make sure there really is an issue.
