Never had the tracking done on my car as it drives straight without any issues, but have changed both front hub/arms complete (used from ebay) and have new tyres ready to be fitted as soon as wheels have been refurbished, is it worth having tracking (4 wheel alignment) done?

The thing with alignment is it can be done at any time. So you might just want to get the tyres put on and then see if there are any problems with the alignment. If not then you may as well leave as it is.

Yep I would get it aligned for peace of mind, especially as you have bought new tyres.

Alignment should always be done regularly. The one thing to remember is that the "standard" Lexus settings are rubbish and chew your tyres up, especially the fronts. A company called Wheels in Motion in Chesham have developed their own settings that many Lexus drivers swear by, especially those who have spent a lot of money on their cars and want is set up right. This gives better handling and longer tyre wear so well worth getting done. If you aren't close to them, their settings can probably be found on Google so just take them to your local specialists and get it done, you will notice the difference. Worth every penny.

Many thanks for that, probably a good idea as the old tyres wore through to the white ribbing on the insides!

Would anyone have the required settings as can't find on Googe

If you are on Facebook, the settings are on their forums. or join the IS200 club on Facebook and someone there will have the settings and loads of other really good advice and parts for sale too.

Thanks Andy, much appreciated mate. Did speak with Wheels In Motion yesterday, and was quoted £95 to do this...did sound a tad expensive considering it's a bit of a trek to get there in the first place. Having said that, their website is most impressive with all the up to date gear etc. Still considering going there to have them do this and to remove/refit/balance the new tyres that the local muppet didn't do right! I mean it's not difficult to put the white dot on the new tyre exactly where the valve is!!! He got them all out by 4 to 5 inches and marked one of the newly refurbed rims as well, what a total ******. Also have a very slight shimy on steering wheel at about 60mph, which is probably due to the fact that his balancing machine was out of the bloody Ark!

Can anyone vouch for these guys?

Anyone who has used WIM (Tony Bones) I think will rate them quite highly. I have used them twice and have no complaints.....

I traveled from Hampshire to have mine sorted after two other cowboy outfits failed miserably and fleeced me out of my money just for their ignorance. If I lived in Scotland I would come down to Wheels In Motion.

Cheers guys, will get it sorted.

So I went to Wheels in motion Friday and had geo done and wheels properly balanced...absolutely spot on, car has never driven this well. Really nice guys who take a pride in their work, not often seen these days.

£95? he bumped mine up to £114 on the phone yesterday....lexus22, what did you end up paying if i may ask?

No problem, they quoted me £95 on phone for tracking set up, final bill was £120  But included in that was 4 x wheel balance @£7.50 each and an extra £10 to remove new paint from all the inner wheel hubs, so in theory should have been £135....dunno, just paid and left!

Maybe they charge less if it doesn't take as long as they first quoted..hmmm.

They quoted me but got a £15 reduction on the quote as they didn't have to do as much as they thought. Its really good knowing that you have people working on your car that do know what they are doing. I let them keep the £15 for their tea fund. Mike.

Just my 2p on the subject since the IS200 I bought 2nd hand last month had seriously worn front tyres (inner side only, belts starting to surface...).

This morning I went to change the tyres at Cambridge's ATS garage and the chap offered to apply WIM's settings for tracking, so I accepted as they usually do a good job in my cars and quoted tracking for £65 (plus 10% discount as done at the same time as changing tyres) instead of the £95 + VAT from WIM.

However after a quick check he had to retract the offer as he said their machine only allows adjustments in degrees, whilst WIM's settings seem to include changes measured in inches as well. He was honest enough to admit it's better done by a specialist, which was refreshing to hear from someone at a major chain!

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Why cant we drag this country up from the rubbish so called professionals that aren't anymore than con artists. I would hate to tell someone I could do a job knowing full well that all I am doing is lying, and then to steal money from you knowing he hasn't done the job you wanted because he is incapable and doesn't have the required knowledge to carry it out.

It doesn't seem to matter what or where you go in this country to get something done you just seem to end up in a pit full of crocodiles eagerly waiting to swallow up your bank balance and not missing a wink of sleep, ever

You were lucky Luca. Mike.
