Hello people,

It's been 2.5 years since I greased all calipers using Pagid Ceratec. The brakes have started burning lately and I inspected the car today expecting the slider pins to be seized.

I was pleased to see that the pins were free like they had been lubricated yesterday.

The pistons in the calipers however seem very pitted and are probably not retracting properly. (I couldn't push the caliper back with my hands) I am probably going to need new calipers or the existing ones will need to be rebuilt. It will be more expensive then just replacing a slider pin but I was actually quite pleased that the pins had not seized.

I'm not very active on here these days but just thought I'd come over and spread the word. Maybe the calipers are not a bad design after all!!

And for the record at the rear, I have one 'new and improved' caliper and the other one is the older design. The older design was actually moving more freely on the slide pin in comparison to the newer design. LOL

The dealers and most mechanics use copper based grease which I believe is too harsh on the rubber seals.
