NX300 Sat Nav

Any advice...please?  My Sat Nav picks some ridiculous routes.  For example, I was driving through Derby and rather than take me on the ring road, which was virtually a straight line to my destination, it kept trying to direct me in to the horrendously congested city centre!  I ignored it and went on the ring road expecting it to get the message, but still it tried to direct me at every junction on to a massive triangular route through the city.  I changed to the quickest, then the most economical and then the shortest, yet still it tried to direct me the long way.  There were no roadworks and not a huge amount of traffic on the ring road... so any ideas what is wrong?  This happens all the time.  It took me an age to get back from Oxford, because it directed me along the most windy country roads (and yes I had opted to use motorways) and it never takes me the direct route to the children's school (which, fortunately for them, I can get to without my not-so-trusty Sat Nav).  Do I need to download something?  I'm rubbish at this techy stuff.

How do you know it tried to take you the long way? most likely if you put in "shortest" route, it'll take you the shortest way across according to distance

Hi Helen and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over.
