Vredstein or swap?

Hi chaps.....Looking for a consensus of opinion. I've had the ISF for about a month now, and inherited brand new Vredstein's on the back 275/30/19 and worn Vredstein's 245/35/19 on the front. The fronts now need to be changed as they are close to limit, both worn on the inside of the tyre. Are these tyres worth sticking with or are there an option that ISF owners on the whole prefer? Depends on what you want. I inherited a nearly new set of vredsteins with a set of refurbed wheels I bought from a fellow on here. Ran them last year before I put my winter tyres on. When I put the summers back on, which will happen very soon, I'm going to ditch the part worn reds and swap them for a set of Michelins. Primary reason being a lack of grip in the wet - I use my car as my daily driver rather than a dry day toy.

What Michelins are you planning on going for? I'm trying to decide on what tyres to get next and I've narrowed it down to Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the new Continental Sport Contact 6. Not sure the car needs the super sports, I am looking at the SP2, got offered a good price on that.Though they do look like nice tyres...

Thanks for the input, wet grip is important so I might move away from the Vredsteins, will get prices for the Hankook, Pilot Sports and Continental SP6.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports for the win!

Got those on my F and love how they perform come rain or shine.

It's worth looking at buying the tyres online. Got a good deal on mine given they are bigger sizes.

I used mytyres.co.uk when I bought the Vredsteins, and Tyreleader.co.uk for the MPSS's.

Fronts (245/35/19) were £129.58 each, and Rears (275/30/19) were £159.41

All in for a full set of 4 was £693.56 including VAT and delivery.

After much research I've ordered the fronts 245/35/19 Hankook Ventus S1 EVO 2. They were £290 for the pair including mobile fitting by the AA. 

Peter, as I inherited this car with the wider tyres (same sizes as youve quoted) , whats been your experience with insurance, should I call insurer (Admiral) to disclose this?

Probably best.

I've disclosed all of my modifications to my insurers (which are a lot! Lol), including the larger tyre sizes I am using.

Just not worth the risk in my opinion. Whilst I would struggle to see how they could reject any claim you might have to make in the future for running wider than OEM tyres, it's not worth giving them the opportunity to do so.

You may find Admiral will be a bit funny with it. Know a few people that have had issues with any form of modifications with them in the past.

I use Keith Michaels Plc to get my cover. They've known me for decades now, so always find me a policy that is willing to accept modifications.

Doubt they would add anything for wider tyres alone.

So I spoke with Admiral and they charged an extra £17 for an 'exterior modification'. I know it's a small thing and would have probably never been an issue but worth it for the peace of mind. I have found them to be quite good, insuring the car whilst on Irish number plate and with small mods on my old Is250.
