Advice needed please. As I started my Mk 4 this morning the key broke in half !!  The metal shaft plus a fraction of the remaining plastic enabled me

to start the car. I was also able to use the remote bit to lock the car at work. What is the best (cheapest) route to getting a new key ?

I always use the key with the solid fob to start my car. That avoids the usual black 3 button fob key from disintegrating like Anthony's did. You must have the 2 keys on the same keyring though so that the transponder can operate.

Hi Anthony, I ordered my key from this Jim Mann via eBay. His email address is telecommann@hotmail.com. If you send him a good pictures of both sides of the key, he will cut one and send it to you. It's good quality key, cost me around 13 gbp about a year ago, and I was able to programme it by the break pedal and door mechanism. Hope this helps. Tarun
